    Help finding .sys files please ?!

    I had a BSOD last week - that was recoverable;

    but now i cant find two files: pagefile.sys and hiberfil.sys

    both of which are normally in C: root folder

    I have all files unhidden/shown

    I have checked to make sure that the system is set to handle the pagefile.sys
    restarted the machine and used it for a while

    I still cant find the pagefile.sys file either by looking or by searching;

    (I rechecked the settings, and rechecked that I am showing hidden items)

    For what its worth - the defraggler program says that the hiberfil.sys is there in the root of c: - and I cant visually see it either (or find on a search)

    searching my entire machine (including hidden flders in search) for those exact file names reveals nothing.

    any idea's how I can make sure those files are there - or how to find them?

        i think pagefile.sys is the file that the OS uses to swap out to disk, its like extra memory but in a file on your hard drive, i dont know much about windows, but this should be temp type data i would think it wouldnt be critical as its basically ram i would think. hibrfil.sys i think is related to hibernation like mentioned above, did you have some type of problem when the box tried to sleep and come back and didnt stop/start cleanly?

          Did you show hidden files and uncheck hide protected OS files? o.O
