Promoters that look for new talent?

Anyone know anyone that look for new dj talent for their clubnights? Or where I can send out some promo cds?

    Cheers

You should probably head to www.mercurypromote.com for info on this sort of thing.

If you're running your own night you're half-way there. Basically you trade gigs with other promoters. That's what I did with the Bedrock pre-parties, and it got me a 2 year residency at The Cross which is one of the best clubs in the UK.

it also helps to live in england. as it seems that's where all the big dj's tend to live. well that and NYC. but i think more prog dj's live in england.

i'd say also get yourself on the dj list. www.thedjlist.com and put up a profile about yourself with a couple mixes. Then put the link to your part of their site in your signature for any forum post you have.

hoping on demo cds exclusively to push you forward will not yield much return.

It's all about getting in the field, talking to the people in charge, hooking things up, and having a proper go.

Demo cds are in my mind worthless. Can't say there's many people I know that ever got a gig by handing out cds .... it just doesn't work that way.
                  Everyone does cds.

Getting to know people is the proper way to go totally, so email phone, chat it up with the globe!
