DJing Help needed with Vestax VCI100 and Ableton

ok about a year ago i had posted a thread about what midi controller i should get and after a lot of suggestions, i decided i should go for the vestax one! i must say im well happy with it, it gives me a lot of control over traktor and its a nicely built controller!

what id like to ask now is if instead of the traktor software i can connect the vestax midi contrlr with ableton. i looked on the internet but didnt find enough info on how it can be done, so i thought i ask here just in case anyone uses the same contrller with ableton instead of traktor. for traktor there are these midi.tks files which connect all the buttons and faders from the vestax mixer to the functions of traktor. is there any similar file which works in ableton and does this job for you?

    thx in advance!

Hi, not sure 100% about that.

Normally, as Midi signals and Midi Channels are pretty much assigned and interpreted as signals, you can do it, but I didn't have the chance to test it as long as I had this in my hands, so I cannot guarantee that it will be stable.

PS: I noticed that you live in Patra, Greece. There is a chance that we may know each other if you ever played/gigged to Patra. Cheers.

Geia sou re Pano! Actually ive been living in the UK for the last 7 years and when i was in Patra i used to go out clubbing more than actually playing in clubs.. ive dj'ed a few times but not in clubs, more like in beach parties like in kalogria beach or house parties and playing for friends! there is a possibility that i have heard you playing in a club in patra tho (im talking about 6-7 years ago when gallery, calcuta and H2O where the top underground clubs in the city). Good news is im going back to Greece in a couple of months and im coming back for good, so ill have the time to chase the dj thing a bit more this time and hopefully we'll meet behind a dj booth

As for the mixer with ableton its just something id like to do just to learn a few more things about ableton and also i think it looks a bit more professional than the traktor software. then again i think its about time i invest in some good cdjs
