    Beirut/Lebanon: Fashion Capital of the Middle-East (2010)

    Hey,
I had posted few pix I had gotten of this fashion show on a previous thread last Oct.

But after hearing that Beirut has been declared "Capital of Fashion" of the Middle-East by BBC last week, I just managed to get more pix and would like to show you why Beirut designers took Paris/Rome & London by storm this year.

    Here is an example:
This fashion is called "Revolution", made by Nicolas Gebran fashion designer, a pillar of the Lebanese fashion industry. Below are ALL the pics of that fashion I just managed to grab from the net, and would like to share it with you. It is the whole 9 yards:
Main Stage, BackStage, Coulisse, Directors, Make-up Artists, Coreographers, Stylists & Models...

    Great pics!...

Always wondered about how crazy these things must be back stage. How many outfits do you typically go through in a show?

    Aisha....she single? Hubba-hubba!
It's never too late to become the person you always thought you would be.

Yes sometimes things get really hectik in the backstage, but what kills us (models) the most is the waiting time which might go up to 8-10 hrs prior or even during the show.
For the number of outfits, it ranges between 2 to 10 according to the designers and their collection (and budget).

As for Aisha, well I know she had a boyfriend not too long ago...and there is a long waiting list

^+1.... But that is the typical dress I would not wear (for multiple reasons)...so it goes to Aisha

Oh, and concerning the financial aspect of fashions, in general:
In an interview on BBC-World, one of the prominent Lebanese designers said that he is selling 40-50 dresses per year....guess for how much??? hold on to your seats...
          |
          |
20.000$ - 30.000$ EACH.... you do the math
          |
          |
DAMN... I surely need to ask for a raise there!!!!

In fact, most of his customers are from the gulf area.
I imagine in the western world few people would spend such vast amount of money for a dress. And how many times that dress would be worn if purchased?
Just the idea of it is crazy, 40-50 dresses every year though...

^Great backstage photos, thanks for sharing them Shiva!

That is interesting that there's still a fairly big market for dresses in that price range, according to Valentino the days of selling 100 - 200 dresses in the $20k - $100k price range are over, at least in Europe and America...

...he claims the era of which wealthy women would wear (expensive) dresses during the day and then change into their evening gowns at night to go to dinner are over in this interview with Charlie Rose, which lead to his retirement...

...evidently that's not the case in the Middle East though.

It was fun while it lasted...

                    Heavy dude!!!
I'm glad you've shared this all with us,
it's always nice to get a bit more of an up-close-and-personal w/ Shiva and what she's doing when she's not taking care of her angels and making music
Enjoyed it a lot really and makes a lot of sense now why Beirut is covered with all of those magnificant stories about shine and glory,
a place that's still "a must see" in my head and already for so long, now it's only even more exotic!
Hope you share some info of male "dummies" too, next time

                    Kick 'em Shivz!!

Thank you for the asking, I really appreciate it!
The kids are better than ever, and being a mom is such a beautiful feeling which cannot be expressed by words but lived to experience it. All I can say is that a woman is not complete without a child; It is her child (or her children) that will let her know who she really is as a woman because there is a major part missing without them.

As for the MS gathering in Beirut, well that would be AMAZING, i would have never thought this idea would come out, now the important step is converting this idea into reality.I promise you that if this happens, I will organize an exclusive 24 hrs non-stop SPECIAL party in the honor of the attendees (i.e. the MS family) around my pool that would include BBQ and non-stop djing; This is the least I can do especially since some of MS members come all the way from the other side of the planet.
It would be a dream come true (for me, at least), it would be my honor... I am IN......ANYTIME!!!
