Noice! - Episode 99 Kirk Douglas (MUSIKA, SOULOCO@ Caberet Voltaire, CITY WEST, Edinburgh)

we continue our amazing feature of Killer Scottish DJ's today with one of Edinburgh's Rising Stars. Please welcome Kirk Douglas!!!! we are NOICE! and we Love Scotland. About the Artist: Based in Edinburgh but originally hailing from the North East of England, Kirk Douglas is steadily gaining a reputation as a credible DJ/ Producer. Starting off as most DJ?s do with a set of turntables, a few tunes and the will to get out there, he built up his collection from labels such as Subliminal, CR2 and Alphabet City. Kirk then broadend his musical horizons and developed a taste not jus for proper house music, but for everything Electronica from House to Techno hinging his tastes around, and picking up influence from the likes of Cocoon, Minus, Moon Harbour, Oslo, 8bit, Get Physical, and DJ?s such as Nick Curly, Johnny D, Marco Carola, Nima, Gorji, the list goes on. After a year or so playing small underground nights in and around Edinburgh and Newcastle , he was getting recognised as someone who has passion for what he does. Derek Martin of the massive MUSIKA in Edinburgh offered him a residency which has seen Kirk support the likes of LUCIANO . MANDY , NIC FANCIULLI , ERIC PRYDZ, REBOOT plus many more. This residency has helped drive Kirk?s love for the music and also took him in the direction of producing his own tracks, and as with DJ?n, he was hooked. Making music came naturally to him, over the course of a few years, and some hard work, he was making releasable tracks and was signed to Newcastle based label CITY WEST RECORDS. Now with DJ's across the globe playing his tracks and re-edits, Kirk is continuing to build on his foundations by starting his own night SOULOCO at Edinburgh's Caberet Voltaire. Recently featured in The Daily Record as one to watch for 2010, this year is promising to be a good one.
