Straddling ghetto-house, electro, breaks and dubstep
This week’s exclusive DJ mix comes to you courtesy of Tim Healey – highly accomplished DJ, producer and label boss. Healey has DJ’d around the globe, supported acts like The Prodigy, played with the likes of David Guetta and Deadmau5 at various superclubs, and generally epitomised the phrase ‘been there, done that’.
Healey’s Clash mix reflects the essence of his own finely crafted productions – full of ghetto-house, dirty electro, bassline and choice club sounds going out at full pelt – just as they should do. Also weaved in are blasts of grimy hip hop and the occasional old-skool vibe thrown in for good measure, courtesy of a Funkagenda remix of Basement Jaxx’s ‘Raindrops’
Tim also includes tracks from Boys Noize, Busy P (via a brilliantly cheeky Crookers remix), and a storming ruffed-up rework of Mr Oizo’s ‘Flat Beat’ from Calvertron. Also on offer are some fine cuts from the label that Tim himself runs with breakbeat and electro producer and DJ Deekline – Giant Pussy Records: perhaps the only record label in history which was initially unable to register itself as a limited company due to European Union legislation which stated that a company name “may be refused if it is offensive or if its use would be a criminal offence.” Them crazy Europeans – where’s Robert Kilroy-Silk when you need him…?
The Giant Pussy label was created to straddle the scenes that embrace ghetto-house, electro, breaks and dubstep, which – fittingly enough – is exactly what Tim’s blinding mix does, and then some. Truly irresistible stuff.
