That Curve Ball that made your Night!!!

A lot of times djs will throw a curve ball that will certainly make their set unique , whether is an old classic tune or a track that is unrelated to the whole style of the set , the dj just just dropped it and the dancefloor went nuts !! which ones do you recall...?

    here are mine:

    Hernan Cattaneo

Chab - Closer to me ( lima peru 2007 )
Chemical brothers - Star Guitar (Lima peru 2007)
Humate - Love Stimulation (San Diego 2006 )

    Digweed

Jondi & Spesh - We Are Connected (Active Love Mix ) ( wmc 2008 )

    Sasha

justice vs simian - we are your friends ( radioslave mix ) (Nye L.a. 2007)

    Zabiela
Daft punk - da funk ( hollywood 2007)

    Howells
Fatboy slim - Right here right now ( las vegas 2004)

I remember hearing Groove Armada's 'At The River' for the very first time when Fatboy Slim played it in the dance tent at Glastonbury. Think it was '98 or '99. It was in the middle of a pretty lively breakbeat set and must have been the first time most people had heard it...I just remember people looking at each other laughing, and saying 'What the fuck is this'. Absolutely amazing moment and something I'll never forget.

I saw Digweed play the Hardfloor Mix of New Order's Blue Monday in Toronto, otherwise him, Sasha and Hernan seem to keep it pretty steady and unsurprising...Zabiela FTW here, his sets almost always have a wrench in them.

Desyn was opening for Digweed a few years back here in Boston (on my birthday no less). He did a warm up set, pretty mellow, crowd was just milling around half interested and getting warmed up, then he dropped Erykah Badu - On and On (Ewan Kaye Mix) and it was almost like he flipped a switch and the room blew up. As soon as the "Oh my, my, my...." started the floor was filled.

It's certainly not out of Desyn's normal style, considering he used that track in one of his Transitions mix, but it's one of my most memorable moments of the entire mood of the place turning on a dime.

fatboy - putting seven nation army instrumental and public enemy acapella together was another glasto mind blower.

a tonne of '2 many dj's' curve balls which hit almost every set they play

my firstrecollections - were AWAY back when - was some local DJ in a small club playing some messed up remix of 'finally' and the place erupting.

Erick Morillo played Smells like Teen Spirit at the Circus in Liverpool about three years ago. I, along with a 1000 others lost the plot!

            I love curve balls.

Would have to say Lawler throwing down X-press 2 Muzik Express back in early 2000's, also first time I heard Diggers drop Heller & Farley The Rising Sun, Bedrock rmx as well as of course Heaven Scent, bye bye brain cells, so I would not say those are curve balls, maybe Martin Garcia playing Saints and Sinners Pushing Too Hard Futureshock rmx in 06, would even say the recent redux of Xpander when I saw him in Sept. had not heard about it.

So white-middle class Americans have been told by their Television sets to be fearful of:

                      1. Mexicans/Latinos from the South bringing drugs and killings n' shit.
                      2. African Americans cause mos def they are raging a race war and want to occupy America like how the plebs occupied Wall St.
                      3. Iranians/Afghans/Any one of middle eastern origin to be quite frank, cause you know Islam...
                      4. North Koreans/Chinese cause you know everything...

Dixon playing Sealīs Killer as the penultimate track of his set @Lux in October 2008. The whole place with arms raised singing the "solitary brother... solitary sister..." chorus.

                        Mindblowing.

At the end of Steve Porter's set at State in miami during WMC a few years back, he dropped Bust a Move-Young MC. The whole place went ape shit.

I also remember Steve Lawler dropping Eurythmics-Sweet Dreams in Orlando a while back. That was awesome. come to think of it, that whole set was rediculous. Thats when O-town was in one of its primes

Diggers finishing Holdens remix of Britney's "Breath" at Cream on boxing night 2008 was special ... It's been something close to my heart after sasha's legendary space birthday marathon. Also Roaches at bedrock 10 sounded immense.
