I used to buy a TON of records from a place I believe was called "Release Records". I think they were based in Canada or perhaps northern Washington state. Does anyone know if this label/store closed down or changed hands? They had a great selection & great prices at the time (many many years ago) and I'd love to buy from them again now that I'm back in the DJ game. I'm sure I'm a day late and a dollar short on this store but if someone can clue me in I'd appreciate it.

That is where I got all my tunes... Have not purchased in a while. I know they went to mp3 for a while and it was tough to buy rek-kids from them.
Quick google search turned up this:

Welcome to Release Promo - an electronic music MP3 record pool dedicated to promoting upfront promos to nightclub DJs. providing quality dance music to DJs such as Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, Markus Shultz and many more.
Some of the logos look like the old release records logos... HmmmmmRemember: You are never more than six days away from FRIDAY!!!Comment

Re: Release Records (I think Canadian Store)
Gone the way of most places I use to buy records from.
My favorite was certain store in the UK that would get Bedrock test pressings! That was the only way I got ahold of some stuff I had no business canning in my living room every Friday.Comment

Re: Release Records (I think Canadian Store)
OMG Steve! You just jogged my memory BIG TIME! I remember one order I placed (about 20 records) that got triple-charged. At the time I didn't think much of it other than it was an honest error. I had my bank correct it (which they did immediately) rather than calling Release...I wonder if that was in any way connected to the rumors of a fraudulent employee?I ain't no damn noobie. Bitch.Comment

Re: Release Records (I think Canadian Store)
I think certain websites and or record labels started to realize people were looking for the pre-release, test press, white label authenticity. It was short lived.Comment

Re: Release Records (I think Canadian Store)
yeah i remember hooj's site, that was different than releasepromo, this is a "promo" pool where you give feedback to get pre release tracks, it's more legit than their actual label was or appeared to be, it's just most of the tracks were garbage as i joined a few years back and saw what it was all about. granted i got some good music, but the cost wasnt worth itComment
