Melbourne Deepcast - 001 - Christian Vance

The mix immediately oozes warmth with soulful soothing synths and dreamy melodies, and continues on that path with children singing and happy melodic chords giving perfect contrast to Vance’s iconic rolling techno baselines. The mood changes as Vance shows us some of his more tribal roots, before changing the intensity and introducing a certain level of suspense which kind of creeps up on us. As his burning remix of Etienne Jaumet’s ‘Far Falling Asleep’ builds and builds, the hypnotic acidic groove puts us in an intriguing trance. Vance seems to juggle his new take on deep house and his mind melting emotive techno with great ease, his midi controller becoming the wheels of a well oiled electronic music machine. His Cold Light mix of his own ‘Chase The Night’ chugs along with infectious repetition as layers are continually teased and twisted, you get the feeling that Vance can take his sound in any direction at any point!
From here we start to hear some of the raw sounds of Vance, with edits of some of his best known work keeping us on our toes. Depth is ever present though, and the melodies don’t stop either, the mix finally coming to a close in a driving display of relentless groove, as Vance is known best for.
It’s not often Christian actually shares his music outside of the clubs, so feel privileged as we do, to hear the master at work. Strap yourself in, this is Christian Vance LIVE!
