before i canceled my cable i found myself watching this and the discovery channel more than anything else, they just have the most interesting shows on there is why. i havent seen any of the above shows are they are a bit newer i think, but i was always addicted to modern marvels and stuff like that.
Just to make sure I understand this correctly. People bring in their valuables that they don't know the value of and give the item to the pawn shop owner for a loan. The pawnshop dealer then tries to sell the item.
If the Pawn Shop Dealer agrees to a certain amount let's say $1000 to loan to the person. Say the pawn shop dealer then sells it for $2000.
Is that $1000 profit to the pawn shop dealer?
If the dealer can't sell the item, the person has to payback the loan and pickup their item? If the person doesn't return to the pawnshop, then the dealer keeps the item?
Usually how a loan works is the individual brings in an item and they try to get so much for a loan. Once the deal is made the individual has so many days to pay back that loan. If they fail to do that then the pawn dealer can then sell the item for however much they choose and you can pretty much bet there is going to be a markup.
I've been watching Pawn Shop since the beginning and also American Pickers. My wife records Axmen but by the time I get to see it she has already deleted it. Love the History channel, if it wasn't for the Olympics I'd be watching it now.
so are people generally looking to payback agreed upon loan?
now i understand that individual chooses if they want to "sell" the item or "pawn" it.
Most of the time they do. The difference between pawning or selling is that to pawn is just get what you can get. To sell is just that except your letting someone else sell it for you for a certain percentage.
Love the History Channel, Discovery, A&E, etc. I find that shows in which you actually learn something to be far more interesting than some of the other 'fluff' that's aired on some other channels.

I won't be back until next Tuesday, so if Get Carter is the correct answer, I would appreciate of someone else posts a new cap for me
^^^yeah pawnstar is probably my favorite show on history. Its very interesting to learn about the history of some of the items that are brought into the shop.
Just recently a guy had an authentic lottery ticket signed by George Washington....was worth between $15,000 and 20,000
glad to hear i am not the only one who watches these shows. beats most of the garbage on tv these dayz
pawn stars rocks, makes you want to open your own pawnshop... who wouldn't want to buy cool sh*t all day, resell the ones that you know you can make a big profit on, and keep the ones that you want for yourself...
...is there just a new episode each Monday night still in season 2?
