Btw, last time I saw Three he played after Sasha in Brooklyn last November. That's twice recently that Three finished the night in NYC recently after the headliner.Never interrupt your enemy when he's making a mistake - Napoleon BonaparteComment

Re: why is it so hard to see dj three
never seen that happen en masse, and he's always been on the forefront of music, never followed the masses, this is meant to be a good thing for a dj.. right?
or should they all play the same shit that everyone wants to hear all the time, or play whatever genre is the flavour of the month you know, like a top 40/mash up/house/hip hop dj.. errr juke box
good idea, shouldn't be too difficult since i see him all the time
he is, if anything he may be at fault for trying to hard and thinking too much about his sets.. but again, is that such a bad thing?
I don't think I've seen a dj where I was on the floor the WHOLE time, that's nothing to do with what they were playing at the time, sometimes I just don't want to be on the dancefloor, lolComment

I can only judge what I have seen, and he definitely did loose the dancefloor on that occasion .
He did play a more dancefloor friendly set a couple of days later. But I'm not sure how happy he was with that
Believe me I tend to stay on the dancefloor for the whole set. People bring me water.
This is all just my opinion anyway and as such not all that important.Originally posted by TheVrkit IS incredible isn't it??

Re: why is it so hard to see dj three
I would like to say that he is an afterhours dj, IMO.
Funky, low key, and usually plays to the people that know his music and the style he plays..Those are usually the peeps that go to see him.
He is underground at it's finest.
All of this is, IMOComment

Re: why is it so hard to see dj three
But 'dancefloor friendly' is very subjective.
DJs like Carl Cox and Nick Warren don't necessarily play the most challenging music but they read the floor and can play to it, on the other hand, a DJ like Digweed has a following and his fans are more open to being challenged by the stuff he plays and have faith that he will take them on a journey no matter how convoluted it sounds, and you have other DJs like Sasha or even Tiesto who can play anything and the floor will lap it up.
And I would consider all these 'dancefloor friendly' scenarios.
We caught him in Singapore and we were the last men standing and he absolutely lived up to everything I expected and more, but I doubt if most of the crowd considered him 'dancefloor friendly.'

I got pics and video. But I will upload them in the morning. I need to smoke this nice phat joint and just close my eyes and replay the amazingness in my head.Comment

Re: why is it so hard to see dj three
"Dancefloor friendly" = playing it safe = not three. That's not to say he doesn't slay dancefloors tho. I hate that term, "dancefloor friendly." Have some STYLE ffs.
Three is a djs dj. What is becoming a rarity these days- he has incredible range. It's always been refreshing to me to hear him play because he actually has a style, and he's always stayed true to it, unlike sooo many followers these days. Dude is one of my favorite djs. We brought him in a couple of years ago for Alphahouse, and we've got a reputation for being an underground afterhours style party, and he came in and absolutely floored the place- keeping in mind what we do, but playing multiple genres and making it all work. If you haven't heard him afterhours style, then you haven't really heard him at his best. I'd book him again in a heartbeat...actually, i think i'll get on that.Comment

It's a good thing if he is taking people with him, and I'm not talking just chinstrokers. For me what makes a really great Dj is one who wants to, and knows how to, share his music with his audience. The parties that I go to don't play that stuff you mention, and I certainly wouldn't have expected it from him. And it's not an either/or situation . There are lots of other choices.
I can only judge what I have seen, and he definitely did loose the dancefloor on that occasion .
