T288 gets underway via some fine tech house from Aukland's Tim Richards forthcoming on King Unique's Curfew. ‘Synthetic Soul’ is remixed by Strom brothers, Barton and Hayden at their infamous Slowburning Studios. Released from their trance-orientated Antix pseudonym, Fiord is about evolution and a more progressive approach for their textured textured rhythms & captivating beats.
Following on from last week we get the A-side from ibiza based long-term Space resident Nima Gorji and his second artist EP "Yesterdays", uniting pure grooves with lashing beats. Inspired by the Brazilian Berimbau instrument used in the Capoeira culture ‘Forbidden Ritual‘ has a hypnotic aura. Nima explains "this culture and the it's rituals was forbidden in Brazil from 1892 and capoeira was against the law for 20 years until 1918." These hints of history encapsulate a mysterious aura for the record and create spell-binding listening.
The tribal vibe continues with Rovigo born Italian and big Juventus fan Luca Morris before Rovigo born Italian and big Juventus fan Luca Morris has established himself as one of the most talented Italian DJ's and producers. Resident at La Scala in Padova, and with an intense love and passion for music Luca has developed his sound, played with major international DJ’s from Carl Craig to Ricardo Villalobos to Monika Kruse Paul Ritch, as well as launched the label "Polar Noise" with studio partner Paul C.
We get a further "remixed & peeled" track from Josh Wink's last album courtesy of Nic Fanciulli before hitting Mihalis Safras and Mark Broom’s Material Series, which focuses on quality techno as White EP commissions remixes of older tracks ID’d by catalogue no. rather than name. This allows the listener to come to the track fresh with no pre-conceptions or expectations. Brazilian Renato Cohen's contemporary remix of 018 features a multitude of sci-fi sounds, big beats and bass aplenty.
Many moons ago Kompakt celebrated it's 30th release with the introduction of the Speicher (memory) sub-series. Speicher 67 shows just how far the label has come as the glory days of speicher resound in our ears once again, with techno taking a front row seat.
Young emerging DJ|producer Maxime Dangles has releases on Bambú Records|Signaletik Records|Kompakt and is part of French duo Danzca (alongside Paul Nazca). On the back of Maxime’s breakthrough remixes for Moby and Simian Mobile Disco “Bras De Zil” has conjures up a storm with some peak-time bass driven techno full of intensity.
Saints & Sinners are producers Jörg (Yoogie) Querner (the German producer and dj whose mainly trance orientated releases have been under the name "Van Bellen) & Wilfried Belz. Pushin Too Hard is of course one of Bedrock's biggest anthems and a track that received extensive play from pretty much every DJ out there. Interestingly the track was first released in 1999 on Sounds Good Records from Germany. Pushin was remixed in 2003 for Bedrock to celebrate their 50th release and again in 2009 by Bruce Aisher (and also Guy J) to celebrate the label's 10th Birthday.
Nic Fanciulli becomes the latest producer to tackle this classic, with 2010’s vintage currently destroying dance-floors on a global scale. With very cool graphics, Pushin’ is available soon in single-sided extremely limited edition red 12"vinyl in a PVC plastic sleeve. We end with the flipside of King Unique's latest on Bedrock. ‘Feniksas’ has many hidden depths – although not as immediate as Matt’s (now iconic) 2000000 Suns ‘Feniksas’ is a triumph of electronic structure, composition and melody.
This weeks guest is a true legend, Jimmy Van M - his mix is essential listening for anyone that's serious about their EDM. Jimmy is a big friend of John's from back in the day and their times in Florida at the likes of Simons. Jimmy was a key element and founder of the legendary Delta Heavy tour and has produced an ground breaking Bedrock compilation that is timeless and on a par with any of the GU series. More recently Jimmy's Balance releases warrant detailed investigation. Live Jimmy is still an inspiration and you should definately check out what he's playing if JVM hits a club near you.

There are only a handful of people in the world who have the drive to tackle all of the work Jimmy Van M has done for electronic music. He's talented, smart and creative. He's got a great sense of humor and as a social DJ he's not one to shy away from pictures with his fans. But above all that, he has an incredible knowledge and love for music. Since the inception of his career he's had that passion that sets him apart from others. Over the last decade and a half few individuals could claim the type behind-the-scenes influence on American dance culture as Jimmy Van M. His tireless efforts can be credited with having helped advance electronic dance music throughout the North America, opening avenues for artistic expression in dance-clubs that did not previously exist before him and his very unique efforts.
Musically, he is hard to categorize as he is as comfortable with downtempo as he is with house and techno. On all of the projects he's taken on he's explored new sounds and styles, always looking for the next best thing. His strength as a DJ comes from the many years he's had behind the decks. Since 1992 he's invented his own vision and his own way of manipulating and delivering what crowds want at any time of the night, morning, or afternoon.
His seamless, yet effortless style has cemented him as one of the best DJ's for starting the night off, which many will say about his days as a Twilo resident. It was here that Jimmy teamed up with Sasha and John Digweed to bring a new style of clubbing to the masses. A night of adventure became years of fun, which in turn became a tour. Delta Heavy was the first and only rockstar DJ Tour to take place in America with Jimmy as the warm-up. He eased everything into place perfectly, setting the mood with his finesse and finest tunes. As brilliant of a warm up DJ as he is, he still knows how to deliver peaktime slots in the biggest clubs around the world. His control and patience can be felt on the dancefloor as he brings the energy to a new place with each new record. He knows how to push and pull in all the right directions to send your body and mind into frenzy and back. Jimmy has also established himself as a gifted producer in the studio. Creating sounds with collaborators and friends that finds itself in the vast and varied range of house music.
As with the music he picks, the music he makes carries a complexity, sparkle and beauty in it. The time and effort he puts in to deliver the newest and most innovative projects best he can, takes the sort of creative originality that only Jimmy Van M possesses. When it comes to atmosphere, vibe and drive there are very few DJs that can stand alongside Jimmy Van M. Whether it’s putting together a cross-country tour, programming innovative and forward thinking dance music or DJing to thunderous masses anywhere from Buenos Aires to Tokyo he is one of the most characteristic performers to be found anywhere.
