KiloWatts *Live* [Mothership, OM, Harmonious Discord] Philly, PA
James Watts boasts an impressive and expansive discography of styles and collaborations that dates back to the early 90s demoscene and has steadily progressed forward towards making some of the most influential electronic albums to date. Having worked with some of the greatest minds in the industry, including Bluetech, Bil Bless, Tanner Ross, Peter Van Ewijk, and labels Native State Records, Mothership, Dependent, and Thoughtless Music, he has greeted the challenges in the music business with inspired optimism, smiles, and an infectious easy going attitude. In 2009, he played an extensive tour schedule in cities all over the US and Canada. In the same year we saw his 6th solo album ‘Undercurrent’, the debut Voodeux album ‘The Paranormal’, and the 2nd KiloWatts & Vanek album ‘Focus & Flow’. It’s fair to say the man lives and breathes electronic music.
His work embraces the bulk of electronic genres, including breaks, IDM, techno, and downtempo. His albums on Artificial Music Machine that are full of visionary dimensions, fusing together a dexterous knowledge of sound synthesis, deep emotional articulation, and solid melodic intuition. Peppered throughout these monumental statements are releases with class labels such as Somnia, Thoughtless Music, and his own outlet, KiloWatts Music, that celebrate his adept technical expertise, often bringing a whirlwind of digital wizardry in the form of glitches and edits.
Ishi *Live*
Timing is everything... So is the case of John T. Mudd & Brad Dale combining efforts through the arms of a beloved friend. This was first light of the journey known as Ishi. Material was brought by both forces to construct their first endeavors of a full length. Pulling sounds from organic to electric, the two merge their influences from folk to electro; folktronic. The process has been evolving for the past year and a half. Connecting the dots for the band's commanding live presence, to the table comes singer Taylor Rea and drummer J.J. Mudd. On the brink of wrapping up final production for their 2009 release "Through the Trees", Ishi now continues to expand their live schedule, sharing their music with all whom will listen.
Grommit
Grommit has been a staple in the Texas electronic music scene for well over a decade and has been an integral part in spreading the dubstep virus around the globe since 2005. Founding the first all dubstep event in Texas and one of the first in the country, called Weight in early 2006, Grommit, along with Weight residents Innerlign, Tyrant, I/O and Sloppy Jackson, are responsible for bringing some serious worldwide dubstep talent to Texas through the Weight weekly and Heavyweight shows.
From 2006-2008, Grommit and his cohort Innerlign broadcasted a weekly radio show called the Drawl on the mighty SubFM. The Drawl gained major recognition worldwide and was voted 3rd Best International Radio Show in the very first Dubstep Forum Awards.
Grommit has been blessed to be at forefront of such a budding scene since its inception and has watched the Austin dubstep community flourish. He still holds down Weight every Friday night, which is in its 4th year, and is also the DJ for the Austin dubstep editions of the amazing Scion House Party shows.
With his ear to the ground seeking out the freshest unreleased tunes, Grommits selection is pure fire every time. Be prepared for an arsenal of weighty exclusives each time this man his the decks.
Sounds Like Reisdents (AllenMD, John Baugh, James Warren)
Dallas's heavyweights take stage to forge direction for a new era of HD artists. James Warren, Allen MD, and John Baugh represent a movement of forward thinking underground artists that are staged to gain international interest in the near future. Sounds-like.org and its djs are known for bringing strictly ace talent to the DFW area and creating nights that are musical experiences.
Gift Culture
Gift Culture resonates a titillating mixture of worldly and astral sounds. The Gift Culture project is based on sounds, imagery, and art derived from DSP technology, analogue synthesis, and computer-based non-linear editing. Gift Culture attempts to share his explorations in this multi-dimensional space; to evoke sonic textures from samplers and synthesizers; a journey to discover their "voices", so to speak, using such techniques as granular synthesis, spectral resynthesis, FFT/IFFT based spectral morphing and interpolation, and whatever other exotic algorithms he can coax out of his myriad machines. Gift Culture is signed as an artist and released his album entitled "Terraforming" with Psymbolic--sounds.
