    WMC Info

I want to go. Bad. I've never been to any of the WMCs before, but I'm definitely trying to make it this year. Was hoping any of you veterans out there might be able to answer a few questions... Also thought this would be a good place to start posting all the fliers/info for the highlights of the coming event.

    anyways.... taken from [HERE]
Each registration includes entry to WMC poolside events and full access to all panels, seminars, International Dance Music Awards (IDMAs), exhibits and workshops with the exception of the Remixing and Editing Workshops. Your badge will also provide complimentary and/or reduced admission to WMC official nightclub events

    Received by:
    Jan 7, 2005 - $275
    Feb 2, 2005 - $325
    Mar 2, 2005 - $375

LAST DAY TO PRE-REGISTER IS Wed, Mar 2, 2005
    Walk-up Registration begins Wed, Mar 2, 2005 - $435
What does the Conference Registration get? Do we need to buy it if we want to "experience" the WMC, like attending the poolside events without registering/etc? Will there be per-event entry fees that will let us in?

I'm not sure what I'm doing, so I'll probably have more questions later.

^^^^ it all depends on what parties you are going to, and what substances (alcohol, treats, food) you are planning on doing. I am sure that you will get alot of info this week when everyone wakes up and gets back to work.

As for me, I brought about $600 last year. I only stayed for 4 days, Sunday through thursday. The money that I had was basically for parties at night and food for my body and mind. The parties in the day time, which are the bomb, are usually free.

Try to get a flight and hotel package when you book your trip. I saved a bundle going that way.

        Enjoy

the winter music conference itself is the big ticket.
you buy the pass --> you get in all the parties.
if you dont buy the pass, you'll end up spending that much on entry fees anyway.
clubnights are anywhere from $30-$150 to get in, depending on which venue's you choose to go to.
Space is ridiculous. meatheads and coke whores. no vibe is achieved and you'll end up being dissappointed.... unless you hit up the terrace for some sunrise parties. the real magic happens out there.

that movim party looks phat. last years was Hotttt. we had such a good time, i'm defo considering hitting that one up again this year. we saw patrick turner, asad rizvi, tony thomas, and some other guys and it was awesome.

as far as lodging, you're gonna be better off rooming with some friends, or sleeping in an alley. rooms are very pricey. if you know anyone in the hotel industry, ask them for a discounted rate voucher. every penny counts down there.

So you'll have a guaranteed entry into any WMC party with that pass for free?

Is the badge worth it? I don't want to spend $300 on a piece of laminated paper when I could make out with $150 on entry fees... but if everything down there operates on it, then I suppose it's worth it. The way they worded it, they made it sound like it might get you discounts but not free entry in places. Will everybody else here be getting one?

Mixwell said the day parties are usually free; I'm guessing that's with the pass?

The pass aint worth it. Some parties offer a discount with the badge and a few let u in for free. But the money you save will never amount to $300 no matter how many parties you go to including if you for some stupid reason went to Ultra which is the worst party there IMO.

you could easily spend $300 on entry fees down there.
                think about it...last year we paid cash 2 nights in a row @ Nerve. $40 a night X 2 people is $160.
that cash flies out the window down there. now if you're alone its a different story.

keep in mind pickle the pass is for the actual conference. it's not just a party pass. if you're not going to the conference any of the 4 or 5 days its happening, the pass is pointless.

Does the pass cover multiple people?

What constitutes the actual "Conference?" If the pass is worthless if I only attend the parties, then am I missing out on the highlighted items below without it?

                    the pass covers you.

the conference is basically like a car show, for dj's. and yes to your question about the quoted info.

I've been the last 4 years and never had a badge. Its a rip off imo. the good shows will not give free entry with the badge.

                        Re: WMC Info

unless you are planning on going to the actual conference don't buy the pass. it doesn't do crap. the door people in miami are dicks and the only way to get in is to grease the palms and still pay the cover. last year we slipped the door guy $100 for 5 people to skip the line (if can call it a line) and then paid cover (usually $40-$50).

it ain't cheap but where else are you going to have every dj under the sun within 10 blocks.

also pick and choose your parties, don't try and do them all. you'll just be spinning your wheels all night.
i really wish the floor would stop moving!

                          Some tips....

                          1. If you're trying to save some bucks, fly American Airlines. You get 10% off the ticket price if you use the authorization #. http://www.wmcon.com/travel.htm (make sure you tell them as soon as you get them on the phone)

                          2. Don't by a badge. Pointless.

                          3. Bring a lot of $$ and be prepared to spend it all and then-some. Don't be cheap. $50 to get in to a club is normal even if you know the DJ, the promoter, etc. Get a nice hotel (I recommend the Savoy) and chillax by the pool and the beach. Particularly one that doesn't have parties. Those are fun but annoying.

                          4. If you want to go see Danny Howells at BED, forget it, you're not cool enough no matter how many people you know. It's all about the Benjamins. Download the set from Soulseek when it's available

                          5. Go to Nikki Beach every day.

                          6. Most importanly, have fun and "try" to get some a$$ while I sit at home and hate my friends for being engaged/married.
