HARRY AVERS presents
Noice! - Episode 115 Remote (Meant Records)
we continue our 1 a day series through the WMC with a wonderful artist Duo from the Meant records camp. Please welcome Remote to the NOICE podcast: 2003 ? First record Astroglide, considered as one of the best maxis in 2003 by the press and DJs alike. Then the incredible first EP by Henry Goes Dirty, Seb & Eric?s side project, a bizarre mix of electro-pop-rock revealing the roots of what is now REMOTE?s identity: a totally personal appropriation of current trends tinged with a certain independent romantism. 2005 ? The duo reforms as Jenny Goes Dirty for their first EP on kill the dj. A collaboration with Jennifer Cardini for a cold synthetic cover of Elli & Jacno?s tragic/classic track: ?Amoureux solitaire?. Romantism [once again], and a slap in the face. 2006 ? The release of « Get A Real Job » under the name REMOTE. The EP is played and praised by Tiga, James Holden, Tiefschwarz and Ivan Smagghe. « Teaser » ? one of the tracks of the EP ? becomes a timeless underground anthem. 2008 ? Now is the time of « Dark Enough ». The first album for a music originally meant to be made for the EP format. And it damn works! Difficult to talk about as it is more something one feels in the guts. Dark Enough is about techno and disco meeting on a same dancefloor. Dark but not cold. Hard but not insensitive. 2009 ? After almost two years of silence, Remote delivers, the « Falsh of Genius EP », released on the Russian imprint "Lichen Records. 4 powerfull tracks drawing a new esthetic in REMOTE?s work and showing what their huge live performance can be. Nearly a plebiscit. All the big names show full support such as Phil Kieran, Laurent Garnier, Thomas Schumacher or Jesse Rose. 2010 ? After years of fun and parties as friends, they finally decide to sign on REMAIN & SISKID?s imprint: MEANT RECORDS. And here comes « K/ ». Four tracks, four dancefloor hits. The duet is close to the perfect mastery of their subject : Dark but not cold, Hard but not insensitive, techno and disco.
