And now for something completely different. Don't be afraid, it's Cassino & Laben's debut artist album on Proton Music-- the label's first full length since 2007.
The Italian duo, Andrea Cassino & Alex Laben, have been known most recently for a string of deep, techie releases on Particles where their fans have come to expect intelligent, analog sound design. Their first album takes things in a dubby new direction-- electronic, downtempo soundscapes formed from interwoven spacey melodies and glitchy sound effects.
Any of these tracks would be great set openers, but taken as a whole this is a theatrical journey, a soundtrack to an imaginary film you'll want to hear from start to finish. Turn off the lights, don't be afraid, and enjoy the show.
