Re: how to find a job?
kind of a vague question...
...at any rate, Dallas has a good economy compared to many cities in this country, the jobs are definitely out there.... the question is, what are you looking for? A career or a part-time gig, or what? Question 2 is what do you want, money, experience, or both. My only other advice is any job is better than no job and getting just any job will motivate a motivated person to get a job they like. Lastly, network with everyone you know, see who they know that lives in Dallas and try to get introduced if possible.
good luck!

Re: how to find a job?
^i took japanese for 4 years in college/high school. since japanese is derived from chinese it is a lot of character memorization imo, which is hard as hell for me too. the japanese alphabet is easy i havent used it in like 10 years regularly but can still read katakana. its just the memorization of all of the japanese kanji (and therefore chinese chars) which i suck at. i would love to be around this lang more so could pick it back up and be fluent though.Comment

i was mainly looking in the finance field but it seems nobody wants analysts anymore, i worked in dubai for a while and just moved down here, my wife and i are having a baby soon so i'd settle for any full or part time job to get us by, even outside my field, but its true its always connections that help, ill keep looking, hopefully something will come up, any job is better than no job, but the long break is awesomeLife's pretty fast..blup..blup...We made it!!Comment

Re: how to find a job?
You are sordove fucked right now. Have been unemployed for a while decided to join the Peace Corp after a couple pointless months of searching. However, I did have quite a bit of luck in higher education getting interviews. You might check out colleges and universities especially private in accounting/finance.Comment

Re: how to find a job?
craigslist and most online job sites are over loaded with either "make money at home" crap or scams (one in the same), or people looking for personal info to sell or staffing agencies.. real job opportunities are few and far between.. pounding the pavement, networking or job fairs seem to be the only legit ways to find employment. my roommate has been on the search for months too and has figured monster, hotjobs, craigslist etc, are pretty useless.. unless you want to be a telemarketerComment

Re: how to find a job?
i've got a couple good friends that are senior analysts, one works from his condo on the beach...and thankfully so, because I stayed there during WMC ...
My other friend whose a vice president now was looking for about 4 months, he also had a baby on the way... while he was looking he joined a friend a mowed lawns. Now he's working with a bank called M & I
Check to see if they have one in Dallas and then PM me.

Re: how to find a job?
When I was a recruiter I was in the Plano area looking for analysts for JP Morgan Chase. This was about a year and a half ago. I hired 6 of the within a 3 week period. They started out as temps through Aerotek and then went permanent.
I would check out the individual bank websites and then maybe start with a staffing company because you may go perm with the company. Also, try networking as much as you can and let everyone know that you are looking for a job. Unfortunately, a lot of times it's who you know that gets you hired."Dream as if you''ll live forever, Live as if you''ll die today." -- James Dean --Comment
