Blake Jarrell - Arcadia Mix 2004-11-19
20 year old Blake Jarrell was initially exposed to electronic music in the late 90s via the famous Freebass rave parties thrown at the State Palace Theater in his home town of New Orleans. Soon after, he achieved DJing residencies at several clubs and events.
Blake began his production endeavors in the shapes of "Airships" and "Thumpie", which would be released on EDMdigital.com. It wasn't until he met the late Adam Spears, also known as Starkid, that he began to take his production ventures seriously. The two worked together to complete "Apricot" which was later released on the 3 Beat Breaks UK label. The duo also took on what would become the Blake Jarrell and Starkid "Crunker" remix of Those Two Guys - 33 Rev for Looq Recordings. These two collaborations were highly educational and inspirational to Blake, as he began to take on more solo projects.
Blake's forthcoming projects include the peak time breakbeat "Next Day Air" remix of Jono Fernandez - Deliver me (Institution Records Online), the emotionally charged "TurboGraffix16" remix of Damien DP - Inooh (Only Records, Romania), a remix collaboration with another New Orleans native Jeff Devas of Shmuel Flash - For A Long Time (Nascent Records, UK), and Blake's own original "Destin Beach" (Release Records, Canada) which was remixed by Starkid and Jerome Robbins as Adam's last work.
This mix banks to a more chilled side of the Breaks spectrum. A great listen for your NYE recovery day.
