The inadvertent effects of community forums....

Seeing how the forums cater to a worldwide population ..... the effects are turning out (in my opinion) to be a positive one as folks of different races and with a variety of backgrounds meet at a central digital "village" of sort, not only are we all starting to communicate with nearly the same words / phrases / comments / understanding ..... its an inadvertent unification of mindsets so to speak... (I have been noticing this on the forums)

yea MUSIC is what drives us all and bring us here and yada yada... but overall as a human species / race (and adding the power of the internet into the cooking pot of Evolution) .... we will eventually turn into a unified species and hopefully reach a stage in the future (prolly not in our lifetimes but in the ones of our kids, grandkids or even further ahead) where we might eventually rid the potentially hazardous thoughts and threads from the political sections ...

I would love to hear what peeps have to say about this ?

I personally love the concept of this global "digital" village

I'm with you on that one hundred percent, and I can add that it also shows in the political section:

when I look at Dutch websites and read reactions to certain events, and compare them to what is written here, I can notice a big difference: in the contacts here, people are much more prudent about what they say and how they say it, with a few eceptions here and there. They really put an effort into it, and that is why sometimes understanding is created for thoughts that are not entirely ours, too. Dealing with people from other cultures forces you to think harder and deeper about what you want to say and how. Just a sidestep on your statement here...in general, people actually seem to get along just fine as well.

I'm actually wondering...how will this affect the futue, for instance the next generation politicians? A lot more of them may have been raised then with a different notion of how this world works, a broader view thanks to their international contacts.

Anyhow...the positive side of this thing is obvious IMO.

I've noticed some time ago that [ms] is the most global of prog forums... That is there is the largest number of active members from different parts of the world. And it feels cool.

I agree.. we meet and interact with people we would never know otherwise.
and off the back of that, I have already met some really great people from here, that I would most likely not have met.
It is also a way to be able to be totally open and honest with people, and not have to worry about reprecussions... but in the same sense there is a feeling of brotherhood, even with the very adverse opinions on certain topics.
