    Bedrock 3 - Chris Fortier

Potentially one of the greatest EDM compilations ever?

This has aged tremendously IMO. I remember at the time it wasn't that praised but this is a grower for sure. So many tunes and great basslines in here.

And what the hell happened to Steve Porter? He was untouchable during this period. You never hear of him now?

Bedrock 3 is probably one of my all time favourite comp.
The tunes and mixes are unreal, timeless.

Porter is playing tonight at Coachella, I havenīt heard any set from him for a while, dunno whats playing at the time.

i listened to this the other day. it's pretty good, but it seems every song on disc 2 has a 2.30min breakdown -- i always hated that about some prog djs...

steve porter is remixing scrubs now or something

I pounded this cd when it came out, listened to both discs the other day and it's still a great comp.

I certainly wish Steve Porter still made tracks like Nordica, what a great tune!

^ Nordica was ace. Still is. The b-side on that record is also money from what I recall. (I need to get me a Fade Records shirt soon). Same goes for "Losing Wait", arguably the best track on that comp. That aside, I personally couldn't get into this compilation, and for that matter, really am confused as to the methodology Chris uses for track selection. Sometimes it's stellar, most other times it's boring bog-standard plodding beats. Perhaps I'm judging too harshly on this....and perhaps it's unfair that i'm grading it against Bedrock 1 w/ digweed and Bedrock 2 with JVM (both of which are timeless imo).

He and Pappa have really been disappointing over the last few years. (sorry to rain on the parade, i just had to say my peace on the subject).

I dug it for the most part - the Marscarter track is aces. But I save my best EDM comp vote for the Danny Howells GU.

                    Nah, that's Nordica.

Amazing mix, makes me wish I smoked dope. Took me fucking ages to get if I remember correctly, was expecting something along his Transitions 2 hour-mix he did that year which is something completely different and still my favorite guest mix ever.

Who was it here who knew Chris personally? Needs to ask him for a master for that mix.

Defo a classic .. as is Jimmy Van M's

DJ Sawa's Bedrock release (via Pioneer Japan) is also outstanding.
                          sigpicSimonR

This release was mastered direct from vinyl at the request of the DJ and as such features natural sound characteristics of this medium such as record surface noise.
