Fuck that. First we ravage the continent and send them backwards and then we start complaining about it?

Seems like a few people here are also ignoring the changes Africa has made in the past 15 years or so, for you information: december 7th there have been elections in Ghana which J.A. Kufuor won. No rebellion, no violence, just plain democratic elections. Same goes for Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana, South Africa, Zambia, Senegal, Nigeria and a lot more. The civil war-torn countries are far in the minorities right now, and international conflicts are rare at this moment.

I'm not saying everything is peachy, but the continent is slowly headed in the right direction. If you fail to see this, you should try and read some on it.
There still needs to be a change of mentality, they need to shed that victim role and start working on the future, and even that is starting to happen.

I once spoke to a teacher, Appiah Mensah, who said to me: "we are dumb, that's why we can't develope our country". I nearly kicked him in the ass for saying that: I've seen so many Africans wanting to help building their country up, but if you can't pay the tuition fees, how will you get the knowledge to do that what is nessecary?

Don't ever fucking say they're uncivilised man, my Ghanaian teacher is one of the coolest and smartest persons I know. I take it as an insult on his part.

U can take it as an insult if u want.... generally i feel the country will never be free...and i agree the people are the main source of it..

Maybe im being bad and branding them but i believe they only have themselves to blame...

"we are dumb, that's why we can't develope our country" and that came from a Teacher

Not setting a great example is he..

It shows the helplessness people feel about not progressing, don't you get it? I think you are branding them, though I don't believe you're actually trying to insult people or me by it.

Give them access to information and tuition, and you just might get some results out of it...the will is there, they just don't have the means. (Okay not the guys like Mugabe, they're the ones holding the good-willing back)

kinda makes me wonder what you think about your own country's history (assuming you're from where you currently are), particularly the 800 or so years of british oppression. I'm not being scarcastic here, but genuinely curious. Do you think the Irish would have made it as a 'civilised' society without the British? ...I guess I'm getting off topic. totally different situations, but i think the same general mind-set may apply to the reasoning of these questions, that is, the mind-set of 'civilised superiority'

...and if you're not irish, well...then just refer to my sig

yeah i am irish buddy...and i do believe progression would have found a way in ireland without the british...ireland would be a much happyer place if the english never invaded us... sure they gave us a helping hand but also left there mark up the north with all the feuding..

that was an off-topic point...i still think that they just dont have the ability to change over there..who cares anyway suppose it will never affect me anyway..

Sorry for getting off topic, it just strikes me as odd, or even ironic, that you state that your people would have been better off without being exploited by the British for so long (agreed), yet you propose exploitation of Africans by what you call 'civilised' societies based on the same principles that the British used to base their exploitation of your people. You basically state that the Africans are an inferior society, but you go beyond that to say that they don't even have the potential to be an equal society. On what do you base this bold claim?

Your quote "let them fight while we a civilised society come in and take the benifits.. Fuck the hippys, go on the globalisation.." baffles me. It might make more sense if you replaced globalisation with imperialism, because that's what you seem to be a proponent of. How does exploiting African societies further globalisation?

Your complete dismissal of the problem, "who cares anyway suppose it will never affect me anyway.." seems to show a further misunderstanding of the globalisation that you claim to be in favor of. Do you not think that in a truely globalized society that any major political or economical struggle of a particular region of the world will affect all other regions of the world? It may not affect you right now, but the major changes in the works in Africa, the Middle East, and even China and Korea will eventually have huge global impacts. I guess you can dismiss it all if you want, but it seems highly illogical to do so and make statements about furthering globalisation.

Some of your statements here make me wonder if you really understand what you're talking about

                          Guys...just got word yesterday eve...

Me and my uncle might be receiving a delegation from Burkina Faso within a month or so, to discuss subsidizing possibilities. Yesterday I had my friend in Burkina on the phone telling me his minister (!!) was very enthusiastic about the plans...

Fuck. I'm dealing with governments now, what the hell have I been thinking!?
