    About Evan Evolution:

Respected for his long time role in the Pittsburgh-Cleveland dance scene, Evan Bailey, a.k.a. Evan Evolution, has, in the past 11 years, garnered the reputation as one of the finest electronic dance musicians and promoters the Midwest has to offer. From maintaining long-term club residencies, to performing countless events to sharing the stage with entertainers such as The Roots, Jurassic 5, Our Lady Peace, The Prodigy, Tiesto, Paul van Dyk, Richie Hawtin, Benny Benassi, Armin van Buuren, and Paul Oakenfold, Evan has pleased an entire generation of event-goers with his dynamic brand of techno and house.

From his roots as a jazz guitar player and upright-bass player, Evan has been performing since an early age. A teenager in the early-nineties, Evan grew musically frustrated with the post-grunge era, and turned his attention to electronic music, feeling it was the most volatile and important music he could make a contribution to.

By 1998, Evan, with then partner Chris Graves—who he met in his jazz classes at Kent State University, opened their own club night, Epiphany, which would eventually become one of the most respected and talked about drum and bass nights in the country. Evan performed the tough job of being the resident house DJ in a drum and bass club for three years, an experience that forced him to constantly re-evaluate his music. Epiphany’s lineups boasted the talents of acts like Dieselboy, Future Cut, DJ Craze, Soul Slinger, Phantom 45, and UFO!, and saw thousands of attendees over the following three years. Tragically, Epiphany ended when Evan’s partner Chris was killed in a car wreck Valentine’s Day of 2001.

Forced to re-evaluate in the wake of Chris’ death, Evan decided to take some time away from promotions, and changed his emphasis to strictly DJing. After landing long-term residencies at Cleveland’s largest clubs and securing out of state gigs around the country, Evan slowly earned a name for his brand of house and techno.

In 2001, Evan took things further and opened his own label—Spin Cycle Music Inc. with business partner Alex Sandulevsky. The two spent the next year executing the vision and task of building a studio catered strictly for electronic musicians, both producers and DJs alike. Shortly after the launch of Spin Cycle, Evan was also hired as Concerts Chair for Kent State University and his emphasis became promotions-based again. After spending the next two years booking acts like The Roots, Bob Dylan, Counting Crows, and Jurassic 5, Evan was beginning to fully learn the inner working of the concerts and events industry, knowledge that would come in very handy in future dealings.

In 2003, Evan began performing for Tru Nightlife Productions, a company that placed him with opening slots for the World’s biggest DJs, such as Paul Oakenfold and Paul Van Dyk, within the Cleveland market.

Eventually, Tru would partner with Disco Productions to create a new market for America’s biggest club brand. Since that time Evan has spun records under the Tru name—opening for the World’s biggest DJs: Tiesto, Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk and Benny Benassi, to name a few.

In 2005 Evan won the Cleveland FreeTimes Music Award for Best DJ.

In 2008, he won the Cleveland Scene Magazine Ultra DJ Battle.
