    Pair beer with food

There is a lot of talk about pairing wine with food, but beer shouldn't be left out—on nights when wine doesn't suit your fancy, consider food weblog

    * Pale Ales - Salads, light appetizers, fish and seafood
    * India Pale Ales (IPAs) - IPAs can stand up to a little more richness and flavor. They can go well with things like pulled pork, pizza, and fried chicken, as well as lighter salads and seafood dishes. And if you like heat, try an IPA with spicy food - the hoppiness really pumps up the spice quotient!
    * Hefeweizens and Wheat Beers - Fruit dishes, dinner salads, grain salads, and desserts made with warm spices (cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg).
    * Amber Ales - Ambers are a good middle-of-the-road beer and go well with just about anything: burgers, grilled cheese, roast chicken, soups and stews
    * Stouts and Porters - Barbecue, stews, braised dishes - any kind of meat dish, really. Also rich desserts with chocolate and espresso flavors.

I won't be back until next Tuesday, so if Get Carter is the correct answer, I would appreciate of someone else posts a new cap for me

cooking with beer is the bomb too. this past super bowl i braised some beef short ribs in guiness and shredded them into pieces for sliders on homemade focaccia bread with irish whiskey cheddar cheese and caramelized onions.

stouts are good for braising meats- shoulder, ribs, etc, great base and sauce for stews.

when are you inviting us over?

when I used to grill back home, we'd splash a little haywards 5000 (indian beer with high alcohol content) onto Tandoori Chicken. it would just transform the flavor when mixed with tandoori paste.

Can anyone recommend a good beer for pairing with curry / thai food?

It was fun while it lasted...

For most spicy (curried) foods (not necessarily Asian), while the Ale's work pretty good too (Hefeweizen and Blue Moon both taste pretty good), for me I am a BIG BIG fan of Boston Lager. The body of this beer with its less bitter taste works very very well with hot food (and I'm talking Indian hot). Another good one is Killians Red.

Edit: I almost forgot to mention fuckin SAPORO. That tastes BRILLIANT with Spicy Thai Food.

Cobra is always recommended. Personally I can't stand any alcohol with meals.

If I had my way, I'd have a drink with Dinner every night. Its the best meal of the day for me (considering my schedule) and it's gotta wrap up the day in most appropriate way. Spices, accentuated with the taste of a wine or beer and heightened with a mild buzz is ... just ... pure ... bliss.

I do. It's awesome. A beer, a glass of wine, nothing over the top for weeknights, but i really look forward to the food and wine combo at the end of the day to unwind.
