Something that has always made me think about teleporting is that they destroy something in one place and recreate it in another. So let's say if I tried to teleport, it wouldn't actually be me, but an identical clone of me. It would turn into some kind of crazy scenario like The 6th Day if they actually failed to destroy the original version of me.

Nice thread Jenks! The first thread on the new board to actually spark some in-depth discussion and deep thought.

You can't have manslaughter without laughter.

"Son," he said without preamble, "never trust a man who doesn't drink because he's probably a self-righteous sort, a man who thinks he knows right from wrong all the time. Some of them are good men, but in the name of goodness, they cause most of the suffering in the world. They're the judges, the meddlers. And, son, never trust a man who drinks but refuses to get drunk. They're usually afraid of something deep down inside, either that they're a coward or a fool or mean and violent. You can't trust a man who's afraid of himself. But sometimes, son, you can trust a man who occasionally kneels before a toilet. The chances are that he is learning something about humility and his natural human foolishness, about how to survive himself. It's damned hard for a man to take himself too seriously when he's heaving his guts into a dirty toilet bowl."

Crazy stuff. anything is possible now with technology. Kinda makes you wonder what is left to discover.

I don't think that teleportation will happen in my lifetime. It is kick ass to see shit like this come up though. I'm 24 and if when I'm 90 teleportation is main stream I'd do it. What the hell else is there to do? That invisible cloak was kick ass though!

haha.. whast funny about that is that my girlfriend and i are in a long distance relationship right now. and it sucks. so everyonce in a while, she says something to the extent that i could teleport out there.... and the reply i give is the exact thing you just said.

i usually dramma it up and say that i would die and shed just have a copy of me. but yea, teleporting in that sense would suck.

ive heard of worm hole type theories where they would be able to somehow create a wormhole between two very close places (like millimeters) and then stretch the hole out somehow... but that doesnt seem that feasible right now.. atleast in that sense, we wouldnt be clones of ourselves

I've always thought of teletransportation and its probability of existing.
I still think its really far away though.

Its nice to hear of its beginnings
