This is very admirable of you. You can tell a lot by how a person treats an animal....shows you have a big heart doing what you did.

I did the same with Zoe. She was a stray in behind the dealership where I work. She was all skinny, had burnt the tips of her ears by climbing up under cars trying to stay warm, had a broken tail, and a limp bottom lip from malnurishment. She is now fully recovered and spoiled rotten!

    Day I rescued her:

This one shows her tail about 1/2 way healed:

And now, fully healed and getting plump:

Aww poor Rooney...fate must have brought you to him, when he was in his time of need. Definitely in the lap of luxury with you....looks quite spoiled and loved...just as he should always be

the feeling of rescuing an animal and bringing them back to health and making them a part of the family showing them the love they never knew, is so rewarding...

we had rescued another bulldog that was sick when we got him and passed away after about 2 months with us, it was heart wrenching, but, if we didn't lose Baloo we would never had been able to take Rooney, so it was as if Baloo made way for our new addition.. man, it still upsets me thinking about it

that's a very famous quote, it's also very true... a lot of the documented serial killers were noted to have been cruel to animals at a young age

thanks, well, i didnt do anything but you know

i got him from a lady that had 3 other beautiful cats, maine coon, and she was giving him away because he was too playful with the others that were a bit older and more docile. she was a really nice lady and made me hang out for about an hour with her and her pets, she had a golden retriever too, to make sure i was a good fit, and told me if ANYTHING happened and I couldn't keep him that I could bring him back and she would hang on to him.
he came from a championship blood line but his original breeder gave him up because he wasn't 100% black so they couldn't show him, he has a little white bit on his chest and down near his back legs

he's my little buddy, I've had him for almost 12 years!

Cats can live for an amazing time. I had a black I/2 siamese I got when he was nine, because the person who had him developed allergies. He was 20 when the main road got him Still had all his teeth, still black as black! Looking back over the years I have only deliberately acquired one animal. The rest sort of found me.

When my current one goes I hope they stop finding me, I hate we live so much longer.

lol, see my reply to your other post in cats thread

i agree, it is so hard to lose a pet, but there are so many that need good homes i'll deal with the heart ache to continue to give as many as i can a good home
