Frontline - The Dancing Boys of Afghanistan

It's an ancient practice, secretly revived -- young boys sold by their families to 'entertain' wealthy businessmen and warlords. FRONTLINE goes undercover to expose this illicit sex trade...

As the United States deepens its commitment to Afghanistan, FRONTLINE takes viewers inside the war-torn nation to reveal a disturbing practice that is once again flourishing in the country: the organized sexual abuse of adolescent boys.
In The Dancing Boys of Afghanistan, Afghan journalist Najibullah Quraishi (Behind Taliban Lines) returns to his native land to expose an ancient practice that has been brought back by powerful warlords, former military commanders and wealthy businessmen. Known as "bacha bazi" (literal translation: "boy play"), this illegal practice exploits street orphans and poor boys, some as young as 11, whose parents are paid to give over their sons to their new "masters." The men dress the boys in women's clothes and train them to sing and dance for the entertainment of themselves and their friends. According to experts, the dancing boys are used sexually by these powerful men.
I watched this the other week. Very disturbing. It is interesting to see how supposedly strict the Taliban imposes Islamic law on parts of this country, yet this is pretty freely allowed to happen, just shows that who is in power dictates what happens.

This is the same reporter who had the Behind Taliban Lines report last year. He did some pretty ballsy stuff in this report, he was lucky he got away safely with the reporting he did for this.

^Dood... I can't believe you posted this on MS.... I do agree child trafficking is something we should be aware of, and if possible take action against... but this Frontline program is not mandatory viewing IMO.

Be forewarned, this is some weird sh*t.

It was fun while it lasted...
