We ask The Bingo Players about the two fat ladies and who has the better taste in music.

Names: Paul Baumer & Maarten Hoogstraten

Style of music: House and everything that’s good!

    Who are the Bingo players?

Two dutch guys called Paul & Maarten from the far east of the Netherlands.

So, did you two know each already? Tell us how you met?

First we were friends and then we found out that we had the same passion: music. We were both interested in making electronic music. So we fired up our computers and started to produce together.

Who has the better taste in music?
Maybe Maarten, he has the more credible taste. Couldn’t imagine any other DJ listening to Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young!

Would you say that you both influence each other’s style?

Definitely! Somehow when we produce idividually, the result is quite different. There is a sort of chemistry going on when we sit together behind the screen and make music.

You guys get a lot of support from Beatport, how would you say it changed your career?

We love Beatport and are so thankful for their support! It has done so much for us; it gave us an international boost, music and booking wise. Also it reflects the sales worldwide. We had 6 top 3 hits in 15 years so we’re very happy and thankful that there are so many people buying and supporting our music.

    What influences your productions?

All the great music that has been made (not only dance music) and the producers that are still creating awesome tracks.

Have you got anything we can look out for in 2010?

We are staring our own record label soon, that will feature a lot of new Bingo Players tracks. Besides that, lots of touring. We’ll be doing our first Canadian/US tour in June. After that many great festivals and clubs worldwide!

Who influenced you while you were growing up?

The Prodigy, Duran Duran, Daft Punk, Dr. Dre, Prince, KLF, Michael Jackson, Metallica, Mutt Lange... The list is just endless… we’ve been music junkies since we were kids!

Who was the best DJ that you supported?

We’ve been thankful for all the support Martin Solveig gave us!

    Ministry of Sound?

Such a legendary name, that has done so much for dance music in general! We are honored to play at Ministry of Sound on June 5th.

Has anyone ever challenged you to a game of bingo? Who would win out of the both of you?
No, I think they’re all afraid! Maarten will probably win, he’s the gamer. Though Paul has the best pokerface!

Which remix was your favourite to work on?
Probably Kid Cudi - Day & Night, because it went down so easy and it still sounds good to us

Are there any other artists that are big with you right now?

Watch out for Carl Tricks, a new talented producer from Holland. His productions are awesome!

Where did the name Bingo Players come from?

From a friend who used it as his MSN nickname. We thought it was cool but thought it maybe was too funny. When we suggested it to our friends everyone loved it, so we kept it.

Snakes alive, Two fat ladies? Bingo stuff right?

Ha..ha.. To be honest we don’t know anything about the game!

What is your favourite track of 2010, so far?

If it has to be a track by us, probably “Get On The Move”. The first release on our new label.

    Where was your favourite gig?

Creamfields, Brisbane (Australia) and Cocoon, Frankfurt (Germany) were one of the best so far.

If you weren’t DJ’s what would you be doing now?

Probably something in the music industry because we are music lovers.

Tell us a secret about each other that no-one knows?

We are big 80’s freaks. Music, movies, everything!! We even have guilty pleasures listening to Culture Club, Bananarama, Samantha Fox and Rick Astley, and watching Jean Claude Van Damme movies on VHS…

Where do you see yourself in 10 years time?

We will focus more on producing for other people and spending time on our label.

Lastly, what’s your favourite Monster Munch flavour?

“Flamin’ Hot”, just like our female fans!

    Thanks
    xx
