        ^ that the fucking truth!

florida: well, for about a good solid 2 years it's gotten out of hand. i really only drink to celebrate with freinds and at parties; but lately, since i've had some pretty gnarly injuries, i started drinking too heavily and using it as a narcotic to block the pain and uncomfort. the really bad thing about that though, is when used for those purposes, it becomes worse than even hard substance. atleast i just guzzle real strong craft ales; but i dare not even drink hard alcohol anymore(rarely). fuck that. it's really taken a toll. but i'm glad i have that 'switch' to 'turn it off' when things get critical. we'll see how it goes...

^Hey, it will go great. show yourself you can do it, don´t hessitate on asking for support anytime you feel weak about it, try to be around friends or family, or here. I think you took a very clever step on that, its not easy, but you will feel great looking back and seeing you went over it.
If you are ever feeling to talk about, post, send pm, or whatever you want, but keep on that road mate, you´ll be fine

Alcohol is a force of evil carved from dogshit Matt. It is strong indeed but not as strong as you. Hang in there - like anything that hurts you time is the key.

God luck bro. I'm there for ya. I don't drink. I barely do even when going out. I always look like the odd man out in a club as I'm the one without a drink in their hands. And I don't care either. I know that in the future my body will thank me for that.

Matt, take it one day at a time. I know it's a cliche, but it's an important truth.

Look for extra support if you feel you need it. A lot of men are too proud to ask for help when they need it most. Fuck pride.

AA meetings have their detractors, but a lot of people get great benefit from them. Would you consider attending a meeting, or perhaps a therapist if you thought this might be too hard doing it by yourself? I work in the area of mental health, and I put my heart on my heart, and swear by the support of a caring and understanding therapist.

PM me if you want to vent.

                        Best of luck fella

I've been doing the exact same due to my extensive spinal cord injuries but with vodka. I'm just now trying to cut back to not slamming shots every single day. I'm finding that alcohol is way more difficult to quit than anything else.
