Transitions (Episode 300) Live at Axis (Boston) 1997

So here it is, a triple century of shows brought up & celebrated in true style as Diggers breaks open that DAT Vault, unleashing one of the many riches in the form of a classic set from Axis (Boston).

    Date : 28th August 1997
    Co-ordinates : Lat. 42° 20' 49" N and Long. -71° 5' 41" W

    Country : USA
    City : Boston
    Venue : Axis
Location : Lansdowne Street, Boston, MA 02215
    Status : closed Fall 2007

Recorded in August 1997, just a month before the release of Northern Exposure 2, it’s amazing how fresh this music sounds today – a true mark of the artistry & innovation of a DJ with a great ear for something that will endure.

We are back to a time when the likes of John & Sasha were true pioneers, crossing the Atlantic to define a new progressive sound that would embrace elements of house and trance. More than simply banging out the big tracks, John was playing an eclectic deep sound, full of melody, using vocals to set an ambience & groove, with big beats & soaring synths. The music is really given it’s +space & time to breath.

It wasn’t simply about playing the big tracks of the day, instead the aim was to take you along on a musical journey. Case in point, check out the amazing transition to BT’s ‘Remember’ 10 minutes in. Sure, there were bigger remixes of BT’s seminal classic, including a massive prog trance version produced by co-writer Paul Van Dyk (fresh from his classic Seven Ways LP) - yet John picks the less obvious version.

Back in1997 John’s innate DJ’ing ability, finely tuned ear, vision & sequencing came into play, finely crafting sets that were forward thinking & challenging at the time - producing something that still holds up decades later. So hopefully you will enjoy this wonderful two hours of era defining music & raise a glass to T300.

Transitions is borne out of a pure love for electronic music .... and long may that continue.

Major trainspotting support is needed to complete the tracklist !

I realise this very late (plus there was a pre-300 thread) .... but thought I'd throw it up anyway.

If you haven't yet grabbed T300 it's an amazing set, so do so !!

+ major Trainspotting support is required to complete the tracklist

you could put an Emfire release on for 2 minutes and you would be a sleep before it finishes - Chunky

it's RA. they'd blow their load all over some stupid 20 minute loop of a snare if it had a quirky flange setting. - Tiddles
