AMPD! is bringing the deeeeeepness on Thursday, June 10th.
We're very proud to bring in one of AMPD!'s favorite artists of the last 2 years, Soul Minority. Soul Minority, who's real name is Oli, has been putting out techno records on several labels from an early age under various monikers. In 2007 he started his Soul Minority project to release more house orientated music, creating a versatile sound with combinations of tech, deep & funky house. After a bunch of well received remixes, Soul Minority delivered his first EP on Pack up and Dance and it was an instant hit on the new deep house scene: his killer track "A Soul Thing" was number one in the beatport charts for 6 consecutive weeks and was acclaimed by techno and house dj's around the world. And since then Soul Minority has been pumping out some amazing new music...
So far in 2010, he's done a remix for Dirt Crew Recordings called 'London Thing', 'Check Your Boogie' on Kevin Yost's iRecords, and be sure to check out his latest release on the new Raw Cutz label called 'Take Me To the Rhythm' which is absolutely huge, with remixes by Dirt Crew, Shur-i-kan and Deepchild.
This will also be the Record Release party for Soho808 'from New York with Love'
Soho808 is Nathaniel Jay and Dave Robertson, two friends who met randomly at a dirty afterhours boat party, and realized they shared and affinity for house music that runs high on quality and low on the BPM. They quickly took to Robertson's Soho studio to begin making music of their own, turning out deep, slow tracks such as their first release 'from New York with Love' (out on Stupendous Music), their own remix of Soul II Soul's 90s classic, 'Back to Life', with more tracks and other projects in the pipeline. Both DJs on their own in the past; their DJ sets together reflect the music they make; pitched down party music with soul.
Please note, we're moving this party to STAY! Doors open at 10.
$5 with RSVP to ampdnyc@gmail.com, $10 at the door.
Special surprise guests doing the afterhours portion of the night! Doors close at 4 though.
