Please join us in welcoming Moonbeam. Some might say the severe winter climate in Russia is demanding warm melodic compositions. Others might say that during a period of economical recession, trance based music in all its sensitivity works like the perfect remedy. But one fact is a given: the beautiful country of Russia has a history of providing for excellent electronic dance artists. Brothers Pavel and Vitaly Khavleev can count themselves amongst the biggest music exponents in the history of the Russian dance scene ever since 2003, the year when their Moonbeam project was unleashed and the Russian dance community got acquainted with Moonbeam’s musical vision. From an early age, Pavel and Vitaly Khavleev from Nizhny Novgorod - 450 kilometers east of Moscow - taught themselves the ability to write and compose complex melodies shooting right to ones core. Widely accredited for their productivity and high standard music compositions, Moonbeam became a renowned production duo musically operating on a global level, spreading their affection for subtle bass lines, soaring breakdowns and atmospheric melodies amongst trance aficionados worldwide. In 2005, Moonbeam launched their own musical playground Moonbeam Digital, the very first Russian digital label on which the duo collaborated with a variety of producers such as Jeff Bennett, Jon Silva, Joshua Collins, Stephan Hinz, LeRon, Yves Eaux and others. Moonbeam Digital demonstrated where Russian based trance stands for and vastly continued to display Moonbeam’s talent in a wide spectrum of sounds through numerous vinyl and digital releases. Moonbeam’s unparalleled style weaves different influences fetched from a diverse series of genres. To archive Moonbeam under the T of Trance would limit this duo in a musical sense; Moonbeam productions range from deep minimal, refined progressive, delicate trance to big room atmospheric techno and although Mediterranean Pearl Ibiza seems to be the complete opposite of their native habitat, Moonbeam tracks occasionally even contains Balearic elements. This versatility is shown in their varied remix work; Moonbeam produced remixes for the likes of Markus Schulz, Matt Darey, David Vendetta, Rachael Starr, Ramon Tapia, Extrawelt and many others. Productions on labels such as Distraekt Records, the Portuguese imprints Feed Me Records and Flow Records, England based labels Dirty Blue Records and Kickin Records, Malaysian label Pure Substance, American based Toes In The Sand Recordings and Spanish label Regular over a two year course between 2005 and 2007 proves that Moonbeam’s characteristic compositions are ones of global appeal. German label Traum Schallplatten snapped up the duo in 2007 and released four EP’s: ‘Eclipse EP’, 'Spring Story EP', remixes for Minilogue’s ‘Seconds' and the Extrawelt production ‘Doch Doch'. That same year, Moonbeam signed recording contracts with two prolific Dutch labels to further expand the Russian raid. Both High Contrast Recordings - home of a.o. Marco V, Marcel Woods and Rank 1 - and multiple award winning imprint Black Hole Recordings recognized the talent this duo brings to the table and so the planetary travel continues, now having their home base for Moonbeam creations in The Netherlands. The High Contrast release ‘Cocoon’ marked the kick off and was rapidly succeeded by two EP’s on Black Hole Recordings; ‘I Love Mornings” and its follow up ‘See The Difference Inside’, which survived the strict selection of tracks to be featured on Tiësto’s ‘In Search Of Sunrise Vol. 6’. The following year became one of many milestones. Moonbeam experienced the birth of their much anticipated debut album ‘Consumption’, their remix of Perfect Strangers - 'Ode Ao Sol' on Beef Records reached the # 2 position in the Beatport Sales Chart and the duo continued gaining success and respect with notable releases on compilations like Global Underground, Cosmic Gate’s Back 2 Back series, Traum 100, In Search of Sunrise Vol. 7, Mr Sam’s Opus Secundo and Amsterdam ’08, mixed by Markus Schulz. Not only are the Khavleev brothers gifted musicians, the duo mastered the art of video production as well, from writing the script to the entire post production. Their video production for Moonbeam’s single ‘Lacula’, released through Black Hole, reached 10.000 unique YouTube viewers after being online for a single week. Meanwhile, Moonbeam has nine videos under their belt. In 2009, years of dedication and hard work, both as producers as well as performing artists, started to pay off. Due to successful gigs in Australia, Japan, India, Israel, France, The Netherlands, Germany, Ukraine and in Russia, where Moonbeam experienced a significant role during Tiësto's Summer Tour in Kiev playing in front of 15.000 people, Moonbeam entered the Walhalla for which every aspiring producer and DJ is aiming: the annual DJ Mag Top 100. Moonbeam claimed the 76th position and were officially admitted to the list of the one hundred biggest DJ’s on the planet. The rise and rise of Moonbeam wasn’t unnoticed in the press: Billboard, Rolling Stone Magazine, Resident Advisor and DJ Mag are just a sheer selection of media raving about this gifted duo. Half a decade has passed by and the 2010 statistics when it comes to the ever increasing Moonbeam discography is impressive. Over fifty releases - and an equivalent in remixes - were produced, spun all over the planet by the likes of Above & Beyond, Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, Cosmic Gate, Judge Jules, Markus Schulz, Matt Darey, Paul van Dyk, Ferry Corsten and many others, and were added to rotation lists of over twenty acclaimed radio shows and nationwide broadcasters such as Tiësto’s Clublife, Armin’s A State of Trance, Global DJ Broadcast, Nocturnal, BBC Radio 1 and more. Plans for 2010 and beyond are already lined up and the future looks bright for the Russian brothers. With a new artist album with the much applicable title ‘Around The World’ in the making, a string of new releases and remixes ready for release, the expansion of their weekly radio shows Moonbeam Music and Moon Magic - broadcasted on DI.fm, Proton Radio and danceradioglobal.gr - and a filling gig schedule gaining them enough airmiles to last a life time, Moonbeam is destined to rock your senses for many years to come. 01 Tiefschwarz - Legends (Souvenir) 02 PoisonPro - Innovate (Moon Tribal Records) 03 Duoteque - Logo (Pig & Dan Mix) (Boxer Recordings) 04 David Amo And Julio Navas And Gustavo Bravetti - Raw (Workidz And Randall State of Flux Remix) (Toolroom) 05 Carl Craig - At Les (Christian Smith's Hypnotica Remix) (Tronic) 06 Marsbeing - Knock (Original Mix) (Moon Tribal Records) 07 Spektre - Seq & Destroy (Extended Mix) (Respekt Recordings) 08 Butch - Tease Me (Cecille) 09 Dapayk Solo - Child Of The Night (FormatB Remix) (Mo's Ferry Productions) 10 Moonbeam - Distance (Traum) 11 Andrea Roma - Gelato (Noir Music) 12 Deetron - Collide (Green) 13 Glimpse - Train In Austria (Crosstown Rebels)
