    DJing Getting Started with Traktor

So, I (my wife) decided I waste too much of life playing video games, and I after some serious though I agree with myself (her). Point being, I've sold my xbox and now have about 2 extra hours per day in my life to fill with a new interest. Or perhaps an old interest.

So, I have had a copy of Traktor for some time and have never used it, because A) I have no idea what I am doing B) Have never mixed anything other than pancake batter C) Doing it with a mouse and no monitor doesn't seem quite the same

I have no ambitions other than playing a few .mp3s and messing about the house, so I was wondering if anyone had imput on some basic stuff to get started, but specifically getting started with traktor. From what I have read, I can get by essentially with a MIDI controller and a dual out put sound card? Does this sound about right? Would I need a mixer? Or can I do everything a mixer would with a MIDI controller? Are there certain MIDI's made for traktor? (I know I have seen mixers that are "traktor ready" I am really at sqaure one in terms of knowing what I am doing and knowing the terminology.

EDIT: Trying to learn more on my own about this. Would something like this work?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Re: Getting Started with Traktor

Hi, please take a look to these threads:

Many, many years ago i had a decent set up (2x Technics 1210's, Gemini 626) and 1500 odd records. I had a passion for music! i was always listening to sets, trainspotting, searching, buying. I could usually name title, artist, sydoname, remixer, label and year. Times and places change. The dawn of the cd mixer menat things

    and

So i finally took the plunge and decided to go digital. After having to leave my decks and records in the uk a few years ago, I have succumbe to the digital world. After a lot of faffing and some apprehensions about the set up and the annoying problem of getting the damn controller and traktor talking. On first impressions

    Best of luck.

i'd like to try all these new controllers that NI has released for it. But at the same time i'd like to show up to a gig with a laptop and two ipads.
