    The power of the Sun

I've seen this one before and ran into this clip again today. It's just unbelievable, how much energy our star generates.

If I could have ten people, dead or alive, round for dinner, Brian Cox would be one of them. His ever present smile and infectious enthusiasm make the already interesting sound even more interesting.

Don't you find yourself sitting there on a hot day thinking, this heat is coming from that big star that is 93,000,000 miles away !
mjwebhosting you know it makes sense

I actually posted some links to the show shortly after the first episode aired HERE If you get time to see any of the documentaries they are well worth a watch.

Re: The power of the Sun

I've watched 4 of the 7 shows. Have to get through it all. The first show where they had the perfect Lunar Eclipse in the Indian City of Benaras is the episode the above video is taken from and it's been the best of the series so far.

Another interesting fact I learned about energy emanating from the sun is that the light comes in the 3 primary beams i.e. red, green and blue. The blue and red lights are consumed by plants during the process of photosynthesis but the green light is discarded as it's of no use to them. This is why plants appear green to us. That was a FASCINATING tidbit.

              very sweet video.

material science has well nigh surveyed the physical sheath of suns' -- with all their characteristics and processes; and a few subtle vestures to be precise; but some would never concede that we've come to know all about the 'true face' -- and such.

one thing that i'll never take for granted about southern california is it's climate, and the world treasure that is the sun.

this may sound crazy, but i like looking into the sun, even with blue eyes, in such a way that it doesn't harm my vision.

man if i stared at the sun i wont be able to see for the next 10 mins, this universe is full of beauty and signs, earth is like a dot compared to the sun, its sometimes scary to think that if the sun unleashes on us this whole earth will be gone in a sec microwave style, but the sun cant harm or benefit without the order of its Creator.

No, there is someone controlling this, and its who have created them in the first place and with His order he can turn the benift to harm or harm to benefit, lets say a bigger hole in the ozone layer or a movement closer or further from the sun, and then nothing and no one will be able to change anything about it except for its creator...everything is in great order, way above human's power or control.

what im trying to get to here is that its beautiful to see such a monster like the sun tamed and suited perfectly to benefit us human kind when it can vanish us, and if it does thats coz it was ordered to do so, there is no coincidences.

hence, the sun with all its heat is under control, so it can not harm or benefit with our the order of its controller (creator)...capish

you know the sun will eventually kill us in a heat death in a few billion years right? and when it fades away to nothing, the solar system won't be circling around the sun anymore and the planets will drift away into oblivion.

I don't disagree that there maybe a "force" at hand (religiously and via matters of faith, people refer to this force as God), but the interesting fact that we can't seem put a finger on is that if there was a knowing "force" at hand that created all of us, why then did it do nothing for so long? What I mean is the universe more than 13.7 billion years old, the earth is 3 billion years old, the first signs of life on the earth were a billion years ago, what was the force doing for more than 12 billion years?

Moreover, if you think modern man "evolved" 75 - 100,000 years ago, that makes it even worse.
