England have just crashed out of the World Cup in hilariously spectacular fashion. It can only mean one thing – it’s summer. So forget about all that nonsense and enjoy the lush weather while you still can, preferably kick-started by an exclusive and rather summery DJ mix from Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs.
“It’s an extra hot early summer evening acidy mix, a bit random and vibey. Strictly for the moonlight bump n’ flex”, TEED told Clash of his mix. And indeed it is all of those things and many more, exploring various upbeat electro moods with just the right amount of wonk and wobble, and finding the perfect balance between dreamy and danceable.
Featured tracks in TEED’s 45 minutes include a Fourtet remix of Hot Chip/Greco-Roman member Joe Goddard’s ‘Apple Bobbing’, The Ragga Twins’ awesome ‘Hooligan 69’, House Crew’s ludicrously over-sampled but still great ‘Keep the Fire Burning’, and even the fantastic dreamy musings of Talking Heads’ ‘This Must Be the Place’. Quite a selection.
Little is known about TEED – other than that he has the considerable backing of the hefty party collective and record label that is Greco-Roman – but we do know the following: it’s the brainchild and solo project of Orlando Higginbottom; he makes absurdly fun electro tinged with hip hop and bassline, and; he has a lively – some might say unhealthy – interest in dinosaurs. What more do you need?
