What happened last year?

From July 2009 to July 2010 my wife and I took a year off of life as we know it, traveled to South America, Southeast Asia, and India.

It was an incredible journey and now that we're back home it's been a long unwind to get back to "normal" life. While we were gone we rarely kept up with any media coming out except for the mp3 players we brought with us and we definitely made it a point see Avatar in 3D on the trip. It's going to take some time to catch up on movies and music and I was hoping you guys could steer me in the right direction for music...

the past year I've been listening to a combination of some favorites -

Hernan's Renaissance 2CD
alot of Nick Warren website mixes
Way out West - We love Machine
Silversun Pickups - Swoon
Pearl Jam - Backspacer
Matisyahu - Light
Alot of non-radio Bob Marley
Ben Harper & Relentless 7
as well as some random stuff like Crocodiles, Emancipator, Jonsi & Alex, Mason Jennings...


So what's new, what's good? What should i check out?

You are in for a treat my friend. Quality all over the place. Just start d/ling. Fortier, Burridge, Lawler, everything Digweed, Howells, Cattaneo, Garcia, Seth troxler, etc.

You've missed out on alot mate, however I'm pretty sure it was well worth it.

So I'd say (as mentioned earlier) start with Hernan's latest offering and definitely JD's Structures, do not miss any of JD's Kiss mixes this year ... they are off the hook, quite a few guest mixes as well have been killing it - my fav is from Monaque, then there's Chris Fortier's Mixes on his soundcloud page which are bloody fantastic and while you are there, grab yourself a soundcloud ID, cause you can track your fav artists and there's plenty to hear/download there. Oh not forgetting Aeroplane's June mix on sc as well.
