    Transitions (Episode 309) August 2nd 2010 w/ Wally Lopez

    Transition 309

Another fine show, chocca block with the latest productions & remixes Diggers has been spinning live through those Pioneer CDJ-2000's (incl. Digweed & Muir's interstellar Bedrock release).

Carrying on where T308 left off it's the Chems & 'Swoon'. Oslo's Hans-Peter Lindstrøm & Prins Thomas are on remix duty - with the former being a multi-instrumentalist raised on
country & western the results were always going to be interesting.

Described as 'an old school stretched-out disco odyssey, complete with bass slaps and organ squelches' this stripped down electro indie-pop rework is in stark contrast to the original, relying on background strummed guitars before the retro-80's piano hits, with instrumentation slightly out of sync, adding a cool edge.

Things get serious as Mobilee co founder Anja Schneider celebrate 5 years of the label with a compilation featuring new & exclusive tracks across a series of digital bundles/limited collectors vinyl released throughout the summer. Anja is renowned for her tasteful electronic productions after debut LP 'Beyond the Valley' garnering critical acclaim & tracks like 'Belize' and 'Safari' bombarding the EDM charts.

Schneider celebrated Mobilee's 50th release by teaming up with French born Genevan Renaud Lewandowski aka Lee Van Dowski [Bpitch Control / Cadenza / Soma / Material Series / Voltage Musique] for 'Deseo' - their latest collaboration 'Shinkansen' certainly doesn't disappoint & is electronica of the highest order.

Always keen to create & explore new avenues of sound, Berlin’s Thomas Schumacher has impressed with recent productions like 'Slow' (T265) & 'Taxi', his fine Trentemøller
remix (T295) & his producing of albums like DJ T's 'The Inner Jukebox'.

Renowned for some of deepest tech & wonkiest bass-lines around, Schumacher's Snatch! debut 'Bandera' also sees Belgium's Hermanez deliver a beast of a dub powered by twisted beats, heavy duty kicks, crushing bass-lines & trippy FX.

Digweed & Muir's 'Meteor' (out Monday) has been a mainstay of John's recent sets & is one of those heads down main room tracks that binds things together, creating infinite options. Here the locked down groove develops through looped synths as the reverberating beats send Meteor's theme blazing across the night sky. Full of clever embellishments & sonic blasts, there's an unrelenting energy as the pads cleverly construct intricate aural layers, subtly demonstrating a musical craft & deep understanding honed over 20 years.

Next Joris Voorn is called upon to add his cool techy touch to Fatboy Slim's new mechanoid inspired single that has a nod to Detroit house.

There's another masterful 40oz remix as Chris Fortier continues his fine form on Amsterdam-based Strøm marking a real return to form following with remixes of Rafa Siles - Moraira Ice (T304) Juspio - Frozen Light (T302) & Code Talkers - Relax A Little (T287).

After an untitled Livio & Roby edit we close with another Digweed & Muir remix, translating Mr Fogg to the floors. Following the epic 'Space Discoteca Remix' last week, here we get the main vocal mix that lets Stung's soaring emotive hook shine, backed up by deep beats & Nick's synth trickery. Set to be massive on a dance-floor near you soon.

Born in Madrid in 1976, Ángel David López began his career as radio DJ and presenter at the early age of thirteen. With an innovative programme, specialising in dance music, he broadcasted his sessions in the small hours of the weekends on Top Radio. Following this first experience, he worked for the best Spanish radio stations, such as Loca FM, Flaix FM and Maxima Fm, for whom he presents a national electronic music programme tuned into by over 600,000 listeners every Friday only in Spain, plus thousands of listeners via Internet. His programme is also broadcast in English on radio stations in Belgium, France, Italy and Russia

His career has been a long-distance race, and over time he has become one of the most resourceful and versatile DJs of his generation.

    WALLY LOPEZ: THE DJ

Pioneer of House music in Spain, he soon began touring the major clubs in the world, sharing the decks with celebrities such as Paul Van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold, David Guetta, Dubfire; Tiësto o Danny Tenaglia.

Considered to be the most internationally renowned Spanish DJ and producer, he has played on the five continents (New York, Toronto, Bogota, Santiago de Chile, Sao Paolo, Barcelona, Buenos Aires, Sydney, Los Angeles, Amsterdam, Paris, London, Madrid, Sofia, Bucarest….) and taken part in electronic music festivals such as Creamfields Liverpool, Creamfields Buenos Aires, Global Gathering, Exit Festival, Rock in Rio, Monegros Desert Festival and Creamfields Andalucia.

In 2008 he was the guest DJ for Madonna’s concert in Seville (Spain)

He is a regular on the White Island. After many years being a resident at Pacha Ibiza along with Darren Emerson and Pete Tong, he has headlined his own night at SPACE over the last three years.

He has launched a series of compilations recorded in different cities under the name “I’m coming to..”, as well as his compilations “I am vueling to Ibiza” and the second volume of Toolroom Knights along with Tom Novy. In April 2010 he launches his compilation for the world famous Global Underground series, and will tour the planet presenting it in the best clubs

    WALLY LOPEZ: THE PRODUCER

In 2000 he produced what would be his first international hit “Amman”, followed by “Patricia Never leaves the House” and “Disco Night”, enthusiastically played by artists such as Erick Morillo, Hernan Cattaneo and Steve Lawler, which led to him being named “Man of the moment”.
However, 2004 was when Wally López’s musical career reached its current dimension. Fate led him to take a slow commuter train from Madrid to Valencia and, to beat the boredom, he got out his laptop and started working on a remix of “Just a little more love”. In Wally’s hands it became a worldwide hit that launched David Guetta’s career, and the man from Madrid became the indisputable winner of the 2004 DJ Awards.

More recently, he has produced big hits as Burning Inside, Noche sin Luna or Planet Earth
