track numbers in an mp3 file

how can i put track markers in an mp3 file, but i want to keep it as an mp3 file on the the cd and not wav?

i think your best bet is to make a cuesheet, burn to cd audio, then rip the cd audio to mp3 but this time rip each track, then burn the track back on to cd as mp3.

does it leave little gaps betwen gaps tho (miniscule but audible)??
