DJing Native Instruments - Traktor Kontrol S4

Surprised havent seen a thread about this yet...

Finally you dont need a mixer or any other controllers to have a decent traktor setup, it has an built in 4 channel mixer with a good output quality (they say) .
Looks like a quality product to me, its 999$ or 899eur, cheaper than a low end cdplayers-mixer setup.

What do you think about it?

    Dont panic, its organic.

I would prefer a VCI-100 and Audio 8 DJ combo for less than that, but I cannot tell for sure as I did not have the chance to test the quality and reliability of the S4 yet....

The sure thing is that if you want everything in a box (and money is not an issue), then you go the already tested and trusted way: Xone 4D.

Really looking forward to the S4 and the smooth integration it will have with the new software, and the ability to turn decks CD into samplers is brilliant as well.

With that being said, two issues. One, I still don't think there's a need for jog wheels as that's a lot of real estate it's taking up that could be used for, oh I don't know, two more transports or two more FX?

Plus it's only a 3 band EQ on the mixer still, and I've been so used to using a 4 band EQ it just would feel or sound right trying to go back to a 3 band EQ.

And while I am a huge fan of A&H and all their products, the Xone:4D costs nearly 3 times more than the S4 plus it doesn't come bundled with it's own software, and the S4 has been seamlessly integrated with the software and they talk back and forth to each other instead of just the hardware talking to the software.
      Piss off you phucking wanksters!

Looks really nice, but since I use Ableton for most of my stuff...other than the actual dj'ing in public. I think the APC40 is more up my alley.

And I agree with Jayson about the need for a jogwheel anymore. I think it's just not needed for computer program controlling anymore.
