      i gotta think the average photoshoot buff has reached law of diminishing returns when it comes to high end cameras.

          the beauty of the G series is that they have almost been the almost DSLR of the point and shoot range from Canon. The G series also touted the ability to stick interchangeable lenses on them making them more pro than amateur. Plus their comparatively tinier size with pro settings makes it a very good camera in my books. I've had the G5 for years and loved every shot I've taken with it.

                  What about the GF1 or LX5? Considering one of them but not about to buy yet. I'm using a Ricoh GRD and it's lack of zoom can be rather inconvenient.

                      yeh. my dad has a G11 and the photos it takes are very high quality. The lens has a lot of depth and the colours are vivid, its almost like a DSLR.
                      Dont panic, its organic.

                          the G12 will also take HDR photos, that should really push the envelope for pro-amateur enthusiasts
