The summer is almost over, the nights are drawing in and Filth is back; back with a new sound. A night that likes to move with the times; to freshen up the music policy whenever necessary, Filth now takes your hand and leads you down an underground electronic path littered with Ibizan and tech house talent.
To kick things of on September 11th a headline slot from Kaiserdisco has been confirmed. Their rise has been lightning fast: since their first record in 2008, they’ve racked up records for Micro.fon, Style Rockets, Terminal M, and My Best Friend — four for the latter label alone, with another two EPs and an album on the way for the Traum sub-label.
Making nice beats somewhere between techno, tech house and even good old minimal, they turn out tunes heavy on the bounce and filled with trippy good vibes and most recently have done so for Adam Beyer’s much lauded Drumcode label. Recently on Pete Tong’s show – all those in the know are getting behind Kaiserdisco.
Next to take the helm is Edu Imbernon. Just 20 years old, Spanish man Edu is a resident out at Space in Ibiza, has recently moved to Berlin and is the owner of Eklektisch, his own record label which is regularly supported by artists like Gregor Tresher, Danny Tenaglia and Gabriel Ananda and has released himself as an artist on labels like Great Stuff, Noir Music, Cr2 records.
The young gun also spins at places like the Zoo Project and Privilege, so really knows his game. He is one of the youngest artists to ever have a record in Beatport’s Top 100 and also regularly tops Resident Advisor’s DJ charts for his original productions on trendy labels like Liebe*Detial.
Residents Luke Pompey (now releasing on Cr2 and Subliminal Records, no less), Danny Savage and King Tut & the Wookie (who between them have played Glasto, Creamfields and warm-up sets for the mighty Deadmau5 out in Mallorca) will serve up more wide eyed tech and house cuts from their clued-up record bags and ensure that every last decibel of Mint Club’s mammoth Funktion One soundsystem is put to best use.
On top of the du jour electronic sounds, a bright and engaging selection of clubbers who love said sounds and the intimate vibes of Mint club, there’s also the added excitement of the Watergate style LED disco panel above the dance floor which adds red warm and blue cool to all the right points in the music.
Filth is back with a vengeance this winter, so keep an eye out for scorching hot line-ups in the future… think Oxia, Tim Green, Butch, Ramon Tapia, Seb Leger, Style of Eye, and you’ll be in the right area!
