I Rest My Case on Facebook

    Stolen: Interpol chief's identity
    September 18, 2010

Interpol Secretary General Ronald K. Noble. Photo: AFP
Criminals stole the Facebook identity of Interpol head Ronald K. Noble and used it to obtain information on an operation by the international police agency, Noble has said.

"Just recently Interpol's Information Security Incident Response Team discovered two Facebook profiles attempting to assume my identity as Interpol's secretary general," Noble told the first Interpol Information Security Conference in Hong Kong.

"One of the impersonators was using this profile to obtain information on fugitives targeted during our recent Operation Infra Red."

I went to a wedding last week and saw loads of people I recognized from face book. However I only actually knew two of them.

I've got nearly 400 friends on facebook... but only like 3 in real life. One of those is my wife. I think I'm in trouble with her though, cause I woke up on the sofa after taking down nearly a whole bottle of Beafeater last night. I may be down to 2 real life friends.

Music is the answer, to your problems. Keep on movin', till you solve them.

              in my honest opinion:

facebook can be sketchy (unless correctly alternated to custom privacy settings) and is a great social tool, if used right. i use it to keep in touch with family, friends from areas i've lived in, grade school, high school, college, and a network of producers and deejays. i get more unreleased choons, demos and bootlegs on facebook than anywhere else.

It's a necessary evil - great for music updates, some of the other updates can be really annoying, but there you can ignore them via settings etc.

This release was mastered direct from vinyl at the request of the DJ and as such features natural sound characteristics of this medium such as record surface noise.

Why would any info on police business be on facebook? That is just the cops being f'in stupid. It is their fault not facebook's for putting this info anywhere online other than designated secure internal websites, etc that is managed be the coppas. Dumb.

You should know better than that, Just as you won't stop ending your sarcastic remarks to all with lol Btw thanks for giving me the opportunity to say more

I think for for people trying to promote themselves Facebook can be a useful tool. But anyone who thinks they can make themselves safe is kidding themselves. Facebook's whole reason for being is collecting data and using it. It is totally in their interest to make sure people can't make themselves too private. They are not just doing just for you folks, it is a business !

Example . I started getting emails from facebook urging me to join up, and as you all know I avoid it like the plague. Was talking to a friend about how this could happen and I was told Facebook can have access to people's address books , if anyone had my email address in their address book Facebook had it as well . So I am now part of their data

What I found funny was that even people in incredibly sensitive security areas apparently didn't know to keep themselves private on Facebook. What hope have ordinary people.?? Actually that isn't really funny is it. ??
