Does Learning how to Mix/Wright Music Take Away from the Mystery?
Re: Does Learning how to Mix/Wright Music Take Away from the Mystery?
well i think it works both ways, but if u know much then u can appreciate the good and be even more blown away when someone pulls off a good clean compatible mix or track. and i still say i dont know how the hell these guys do it.
its same as playing tennis and then watching federer play

I think it might depend on what sort of person you are. I find the more I know about it the more I love it. Even if I can pick train wrecks now. That might change if I got into mixing producing. Some analysis would be good I

I hate this debate
Go spend some time on a forum with jazz musicians, it's all they talk about: should i learn theory? should I just play by ear? won't learning kill it for me? will I play like a robot?
IMO, learning and internalizing sounds will only help you, as long as you don't overthink things when you are creating music.
does learning how to write a story make reading unenjoyable ?
fuck I hate this debate so much, I can't believe i'm answering this...

I would have to say yes and no... yes you probably won't like the majority of average musicians, but you will appreciate that much more those who are really talented. So it's kind of a wash because your aural pallet just becomes more sophisticated.
