Re: Cohen Bros. - True Grit (2010)
Interested to hear what Highsteppa has to say about this... it seems a bit ambitious even for the Cohen bros. That said, I doubt it won't be good.
It was fun while it lasted...Comment

Yeah...I've read some comments already that people think Matt Damon is too young for the part, etc. I'm betting this should be good because the Cohens have a great track record, so here's to hoping...Comment

Re: Cohen Bros. - True Grit (2010)
I read earlier this week that the Coen brothers delivered a film closer to the book– there was far more violence and such that wasn't translated into the 1969 film. No Hollywood sugar coating = win.
I'll definitely watch it.Comment

Re: Cohen Bros. - True Grit (2010)
The Cohen Brothers have some serious balls in trying to remake a movie that is considered mandatory watching if you want to know what John Wayne is all about. But from what I've read and heard, they're not really trying to remake the John Wayne classic, more stay true to the book that it was based on.
I'm all for it. I do agree that their remake efforts are sometimes misguided (I did enjoy The Ladykillers, but it did get a lot of slack from me simply because it was the Cohen Brothers behind it), but I'm willing to give them a shot with this.Comment

this looks to be fucking bad ass; i concede it will be of high calibre and quality filmage.
nothing really can top timeless classics though.
have a good conviction that the brothers will do the grit justice.(((( }-d|-__-|b-{ ))))Comment

Saw this today, pretty good. I haven't seen the original though. Jeff Bridges did a great job, and the new girl who played Maddie Ross did a great job. Also Barry Pepper was in this, I didn't know he was going to be in this flick. Pretty good film, 7/10.Comment

Re: Cohen Bros. - True Grit (2010)
Saw it this past weekend. It's more faithful to the novel than a remake of the John Wayne classic and I enjoyed it much more. The way that Jeff Bridges plays Rooster Cogburn is more along the lines of a homeless man with a badge than a slightly morally dubious hero. The casting and the direction of the film are top notch.
Highly recommended - it far exceeded my expectations.Comment
