If you have a look a the website of the club. It only holds 300 it's very intimate and generates a fantastic atmosphere. Danny said he was up for it right from the start. So I completely agree iv seen his dig deeper sets this was a bit more intense than normal.

He is still one of the best djs in the world. A true gent and I can't wait for him to come back next year. ( he has already promised to do so)

I have read and participated in this whole thread, and I want to know who earth it was practical for ?? Cos it never was for us How can it possibly be practical to be given a file that no one can play ?? It says something for the people who donated that they have persevered.

As it turns out it was worth it. But some of the gloss was removed by the initial frustration. It's still a great idea, and thank you ! Just could/should be implemented a little better.

Btw Seeing you are recording Lee, we would really love it in 320 mp3 please If you need help just ask

To be honost, i prefer this style of set from Danny more so then his more mellow ones i have got.
This one along with his Darkbeat Melbourne 08 sets are the 2 i enjoyed most.

I think tomofreeze meant the ogg format was practical for them ... maybe it was simply recorded in that format or the tech dude decided it was the best format ... ogg is suppose to have better quality than mp3 at similar file sizes.

I did read the whole thread and its still impractical... I am not going to argue but if the whole world has settled on mp3 then it would make sense to use that. I have never in my life heard of ogg until now. To download a separate piece of software so that I can listen to a sound file i just downloaded is impractical no matter how you look at it.
haven't really had time to play the whole thing yet...only first hour or so...so far so good.

the recording device probably just did it in ogg.

anyway, the ogg sounds great on my home stereo:

Why are you guys giving this dude such a hard time? Its obvious he had no idea waht ogg was and why it converted it to that... he made amends by making an mp3 version... so what gives?

20 minutes taking the time to convert a 4.5 hour howells set for 2 pounds is not that big of a deal guys... should be grateful they are actually releasing it, for a good cause nonetheless..

youve explained in a nutshell bud thank you.

Their was no hidden agenda releasing it in a different format it was just the easiest way to get it out their at the time. Again it's £2 for a 4.5 hour mix and all the money goes to a charity that affects bilions of people around the world so lay off hey guys.

Just his attitude really. If he had worked with us rather than giving bullshit excuses I wouldn't have said anything. Saying it is for charity and it's cheap is not an excuse for incompetence. We come here for the music, not for lessons in converting what is to us obscure sound formats. As I said it's the attitude.

that is the attitude I'm talking about. No one else seems to have bought up hidden agenda's but now you mention it, I apparently ended up on a mailing list and so did others. It's just the way charities work. If there was nothing it in for you as well you wouldn't be doing it. It's a great PR exercise. Although you seem to be squandering that. And the annoying thing is the charity will be missing out because for some it is just too difficult and they will just be getting it from friends. Which also means it is far more likely to end up in public hands.

Again, great idea, poor implementation .
