Two years. Has it really been that long?
Indeed it has. Yes, this week’s Clash DJ mix marks the two-year anniversary of what has been a wholly successful and rather enjoyable series. Congratulations, jubilations, and all that jazz. But far be it from us to rest on some well-established laurels – onwards is the way forward. But before that happens, German electro-house legends Booka Shade help us celebrate the start of year three in style, with an exclusive mix.
Their tune selection sees the duo – who have been making music together for the best part of 25 years – delving back into their roots, exploring the techier side of the Booka Shade sound and revelling in tight, dark grooves. Having already proved they can create immortal club killers (‘Body Language’ or ‘Mandarine Girl’, anybody?), Booka here go back to the underground, via the likes of Good Guy Mikesh, Johannes Heil and Ruede Hagelstein.
Ever-appealing wonky electro character Boy-8 Bit also makes an appearance, as do several remixed tracks from Booka themselves, contributing to a mix that shifts sneakily between slick, minimal and straight-up dirty.
Happy Birthday to us, basically. And may there be many more to come, via mixes as classy as Booka Shade’s.
Booka Shade will be playing live across North America throughout October and around Europe during November.
