    John Digweed @ Ruby Skye [Quick Review and Video]

    Short night for Digweed but it was a Thursday. Started at midnight and finished just before 4am. I got to hear Funk D'Void's "Italoca" on the big system though so I was happy. Such an insane foundation track. Lots of minimal techno for his peak time stuff. Also really loved that. Last 30 minutes was full of acid and punk house with an Underworld track and the last track a mash up of Behind the Wheel from DM.

    Some footage I took of the night is in the YouTube video below. 4 minute mark is "Italoca". Enjoy!

      This release was mastered direct from vinyl at the request of the DJ and as such features natural sound characteristics of this medium such as record surface noise.

                                          I was bit disappointed with the set. The last two times I've seen him was @ Vagabond in Miami last year WMC, and then the Ruby Skye show back on January 2nd(The same show as broadcast recently on Kiss) of this year which were both epic, so maybe the bar was set a bit high. Overall it was just a bit tame and also the crowd sucked, in both quality and quantity. I suppose it was a Thursday night. Kinda wished I had gone to see Steve Lawler at Vessel instead.

                                              Few comments:

                                              1. Agreed that the January Ruby Skye show was way better. The place was packed and the music was nonstop. Also, he closed at 6am.

                                              2. With that said, I like the extra room for dancing. There wasn't a lot of BS on a Thursday night.

                                              3. The Kiss set of the January show was from the very beginning. He didn't put up the meat of the set which was insane.
