2010 is Alan Fitzpatrick’s year. Having enjoyed a rapid ascent from new kid on the techno block to a highly respected and in-demand producer, the last half of 2009 saw Alan go from strength to strength with critical acclaim for his productions and demand for his DJ’ing coming from all corners of the globe. Having just released his debut album for Adam Beyer’s Drumcode label, Alan became the first act to record an album on Drumcode since 2005. This highly anticipated long-player marks the culmination of a run of hot productions that led to him being publically name-checked as a one of the most exciting producers in techno by Adam Beyer, Dubfire and Carl Cox and being awarded a BBC Radio 1 Essential New Tune for his anthemic Reflections single on Bedrock. Indeed, such has benn Alan’s dominance of the techno scene in the last twelve months that at one point in September 2009 Alan had an amazing eight tracks in Beatport’s techno Top 100 chart. The continued rise of Alan Fitzpatrick is the biggest story in UK techno right now. Tirelessly championed by the likes of Dubfire, Len Faki and John Digweed over the last three years it has been Alan’s partnership with Adam Beyer’s Drumcode label that has produced his most significant work; releasing two chart-topping EP’s (Static and Face Of Rejection) on the label in the last half of 2009 and ending a monumental year as one of a select handful of producers invited to remix Beyer’s classic Remainings III. With the same unstoppable momentum that has come to characterize Alan’s style of techno powering the demand for his music worldwide, the coming of his debut LP, ‘Shadows In The Dark’, on Drumcode marks the start of the next chapter in an exciting career. Released as a 12-track CD and accompanying 3-part vinyl set, Shadows In The Dark is the culmination of six months of solid work. Locked away in the studio since finalizing his universally acclaimed Face Of Rejection EP for Drumcode last Autumn, Fitzpatrick poured every ounce of his creativity into producing a body of work that will see him complete the transition from being a highly regarded newcomer to a bonafide member of techno’s producer vanguard. Focusing on his trademark sound of tough, hooky grooves and incendiary beats, ‘Shadows In The Dark’ is an album that will ring true to fans of Fitzpatrick’s previous work while also offering an insight into Alan’s musical range via a scattering of more experimental electronic moments that lay the foundations for a more varied output to come via Alan’s forthcoming collaborations with Adam Beyer and Cari Lekebusch, an EP of “one take” recordings and remixes for Mark Broom, Slam, Dustin Zahn & Joel Mull and Pascal Mollin. Already a firm favourite of many of the leading DJ’s within techno including Adam Beyer, Len Faki, Dubfire, Chrs Liebing, Carl Cox and Slam, Alan's own skills behind the decks are first class. Am intuative and dynamic exponent with Native Instrument’s Traktor software; his big-room techno sound has seen him draw crowds across Europe. December 2009 saw Alan touching down at Berlin’s Berghain for Drumcode’s end of year spectacular where Alan played alongside Adam Beyer, Paul Ritch, Joseph Capriati and Joel Mull while 2010 has been crowds flock to Alan’s shows in Germany (Berghain, U60311, Maria Ostbahnof), The Netherlands (Paradiso, Poema), Italy (Old River Park, Rasmonan) and Eastern Europe (Kiwi Lithuania, Forsage Ukraine) as well as key festivals including Kazantip Ukraine, Streetparade Zurich, Boom Portugal and Sziget Hungary Rapidly approaching the landmark of twenty-five releases, Alan’s own 8 Sided Dice Recordings label keeps on pushing forward as one of the most exciting new techno labels to emerge in recent times. Established as both an attractive home to high profile artists and a outlet for emerging talent the labels output continues to strike a balance between original tracks and remixes from Alan himself, as well as featuring productions from Slam, Heiko Laux, Marco Bailey, Gene Le Fosse, Dustin Zahn, Reset Robot, Rich Jones, Sasha Caressi and Sian.
