Well, I bought my PS3 on launch day in the UK just for this game so I am gonna bloody get it after waiting so long!

(I do however, have one of those awesome Playstations that play the PS2 games and SACD. Win)

Am in! Preordered it long time ago already and got a note from Amazon about the late November release last week. A few weeks ago, I bought the Logitech Driving Force GT Wheel mainly for this Game..already tested it with Dirt 2 on the PC but the real challenge for it will be GT5. Can't fucking wait.

Played it yesterday for the 1st time..WOAH. What a choice of cars and options and Graphics are stunning. Sadly I do not have a 3D TV..would love to check the Game out in 3D. But I still have to adjust myself to it because it is really a hardcore simulation and I have problems getting Gold (1st place) in the 1st license and special missions already and you really have to fight to win. The way it is working with the Driving Force GT wheel is awesome...never felt such an authentic force feedback in a Game before. Steering with a 700 degrees wheel is also ultra realistic..almost feels like driving real cars.

have you explored the photo mode yet? i need to get some pictures uploaded...

i hate those license grind, i juggle between controller and wheel to get the gold... manual drive, and use the < > buttons to get the best turning angle.

you might be able to adjust the wheel setting with logitech software. I've heard best settings were 120 center force, 300 degree rotation, 150 feedback etc...

This Game is killing me lol. There is a special event where in the first challenge, you have to drive with a VW bus and in the 2nd challenge you drive with a Lotus Elise. I have learned the course in and out and played alone that track for like 5 hours already but so far I failed to make it to position 5 to get a fucking bronze medal. The car starts sliding and is loosing grip so easily....I have no clue how much training you'd need to make it to a Gold medal there. Oh Lord, give me Patience lol. The line between motivation and frustration is thin in this Game.

                    Re: Gran Turismo 5 - Nov. 24th

I managed gold on the second top gear challenge after some 15 attempts, got very frustrating however. Trick is in the timing, getting in behind cars to increase speed and outbraking them on the corners. Be sure to take the corners at a good pace rather than trying to fly around them as that won't work. Make sure you brake to the right speed in a straightline BEFORE you start the turn.
Also a tip on the brakes, don't use the system of having the right analog stick do both accelerating and braking, it's counter intuitive and there are many times where I like to tease the accelerator whilst braking. At the moment I'm using the R1 button to brake and right stick to accelerate but when I get my PS3 pad grips for the back buttons I'll probably switch to using L1 to brake, R2 to accelerate and the right stick to shift gears.

Strangely the 3rd challenge is a piece of piss and got gold first time.

                    3rd challenge tip - don't let the car go above 50mph (80kph)

Without any false modesty...I am sooooo good at this game. Completed beginner, intermediate and professional with golds already...and all the challenges up to second rally challenge with gold...right now I am kicking ass with my supped up Veyron.

It does seem to be ridiculously easy. I just have a couple of events to complete on Extreme and that'll probably unlock the endurance races. Hoping this game has more to deliver than it's letting on.

"ridiculously easy". You guys make me feel like a Dumbo

BTW, what is the deal with the B-Spec mode? I tried it out but didn't get the point of it. The very few commands they offer don't seem to make that much difference so how can you influence it? Only chance I had so far was when I had a competitive or better car than the rest. It is also fucking boring to watch 6 rounds of a race without beeing able to do much. Does the B-Spec mode open up at some stage giving you more options or is that it?

I still don't get B-Spec mode either. Your driver always seems dumb as fuck no matter what level you get them to and with the AI in Gran Turismo also a load of pants it doesn't make for enjoyable watching. Apparently, GT5 still has the GT4 AI, they had new AI almost ready but with Sony forcing them to have it released for christmas, they had to stick the GT4 AI in, with GT5 AI coming later in a patch.

                            Apparently.

I think Sony gave them far enough time. As much as I appreciate the level of Details and Geekness they put into the Game, I wonder what really took them so long. When I only think about the insane loading times the Game has (even with 8GB installed on PS3 HD) I'd like to make the developpers go back to IT school......
