North Korea on Tuesday fired dozens of artillery shells at a South Korean island, in one of the heaviest bombardments on the South since the Korean War ended in 1953.

Palin wants to stand with 'our North Korean allies.
Does she really have a chance at becoming the next US president?
God help us all.“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.”

The US and South Korea prepare for joint military games involving a US nuclear powered super carrier.
It appears North Koreans aren't going to take these provocations lightly anymore.

Re: Democratic Republic or Korea attacks South Korea
The thing is... I know the north are slightly psychopathic and all that...but they warned the south army four times to cease the military exercise in the disputed zone prior to opening fire. So in theory...the fact that the south says the military exercises were on "their" territory means absolutely nothing as the north sees that as home territory. Now everyone acts surprised. If this was Israel we'd all be singing a different tune. The Idiots ARE Winning.

Re: Democratic Republic or Korea attacks South Korea
Our pathetic media hasn't even mentioned the "military games" and disputed territories as reasons for the latest conflict. Instead, some reporters are simply saying that Kim Jong Junior, is simply flexing his muscles in the lead up to him becoming leader.
Sounds a bit like, "They hate us because thery're jealous of our freedoms."

Re: Democratic Republic or Korea attacks South Korea
I'm getting the feeling that North Korea is more trying to set up Kim Jong Il's son as a savior and hero of the people. Considering the (albeit highly speculated) health of Kim Jong Il and the North Korean assembly held a few weeks ago, it makes sense that they're going to bandy about his son and get the North Korean populace familiar with him. I get the feeling Kim Jong Un (Il's son), will get credit with defusing the situation and be held up as a national North Korean hero shortly. I can't help but wonder if he's actually going to have any power or if the North Korean military will be running the show with him as a figurehead.
Just how far North Korea is going to go with their sabre rattling though is anyone's guess. I get the feeling that North Korea isn't anywhere near as serious as they'd like the world to believe, and with China hanging over their heads recently, they can't really afford to piss off their only ally. I see the war games as being a sign that South Korea and the U.S. are calling North Korea's bluff.Comment

good to see both sides are equally reasonable in this...we should just let them flatten the region and call it quits. We can have a big parking lot there afterwards.
