(Reuters) - North Korea on Tuesday fired dozens of artillery shells at a South Korean island, killing two soldiers and setting houses ablaze, in one of the heaviest attacks on its neighbor since the Korean War ended in 1953.

you don't think China wants to get the US and Japan and SK involved in a localized war? For the same reasons the Russians are helping ou the iranians.

My point was they invaded Iraq on the pretence of weapons of mass destruction but when there is a country demostating that they have weapons of mass destruction they don't want to get involved.

lol none? ... i thought about that and that's probably why no one made a move on north korea yet and the US probably wouldn't want to make the first move and get their ass kicked again like what happened when they tried to get involve in the last Korean war

I don't think the US gets deeply involved in the Korean peninsula again because 1. it didn't work last time, and more importantly, 2. China is tied to North Korea. They have an vested interest in keeping them self sufficient, regardless of how horrible the state of living is there. If NK falls, where do you think all those refugees are going to go? China. China doesn't want to have to handle that.
